Went into Buriram immigration Office yesterday to get a certificate of residence knowing it would be 500 baht. Stupidly I forgot to take the photo but was informed an official photo cold be done there for 200 baht. The girl takes quick snap on her mobile, uploads it and job done. So now I'm at 700 baht but couldn't be bothered to go find a photo shop.
However, then anothe officer sitting at end desk on right plonks a TM 30 form in front of me and tells me I have to register as not on system, 300 baht to register. Been here 4 years on retirement extension, had a house visit, done 13-15 90 day reports and I'm sure I must have filled out a TM30 previously. So that visit cost me 1,000 baht and all because Honda Big Wing won't accept my yellow Housebook to register bike in my name although Ford and Vespa do and did.

The cynical side of me thinks you were indeed in the system but in order to extract a service fee they told you otherwise. I could be wrong.  Did they offer a receipt?

It's DLT's decision whether to accept the Yellow Tabien Baan. The dealer doesn't get to make that decision.

At least that's the way I understand the system.

Anyway, I'm guessing you probably tried to explain that to Honda already. Wonder why Honda persist with this ? A simple phone call from them to DLT would clarify this.

I've lived in Thailand for over 15 years and have never filled in a TM30 , The wife may have when I was on an extension based on marriage . I now stay in Thailand on a Multi 'O' and just fill in a TH 6. We have regular Police Visit's ,they say they like to keep track of local Ex-pats in my locale . They have never asked me to show them my Passport, visa or any other paperwork . They are always jovial and just keep as book with reports on all the local foreigners .

I bought a Yamaha in Pattaya (from a combined Yamaha/Honda dealer). Told them I wasn't going back to Buriram to get a LoR.

They are commercially minded and just took a copy of my condo agreement

Put it the Wife's/ GF/Partners name is even easier , or does she stay in the Village when you're down in the bright lights of Pattaya

You are in the system, and subsequently registered, as soon as you enter Thailand. Those who have done an extension of stay are registered and do 90 day reports. They are most definitely in the system. The TM30 is an additional requirement that seems to be required "sometimes". I have never completed one and have never been asked to. That is in over 20 years.

One of the reason I try and stay clear of Immigration Office's ,they are always on the look out the collect some Tea money to add to the pot .
If they were to advertise this on Thai TV and Social media there would be such a rush to the Immigration Offices by worried Thai Wives, GF's and Partners it would cause the IO's to do loads of additional work.. They seen to pick and chose when and where they want to implement the rule's

I was asked for a TM 30 form when I extended my retirement visa in early June and luckily had the wife with me to sign it (house in her name) - they were happy to prepare it for her and there was no charge. Wasn't asked last year and nothing has changed for three years so it must be a sudden desire to check. Every time I go in there is some subtle change - guess it keeps us on our toes?!

First the Honda aspect.
I argued and argued that neither a certificate of residence was required or a copy of my wife's ID and Blue Housebook because I have a yellow Housebook. Suggested they call the DLT but to much effort. Gave them the number of AB Yamaha who have the Vespa Franchise and told them they could explain it to them, to much effort.
Annoying thing was that they accepted my yellow book, passport, money ( full payment) started prepping the bike etc.... Only just before I'm about to ride off did they say we will call your wife next week because she needs to give copy of her book and ID. That's when the argument started. I gave up in the end just so the paperwork gets processed and I get a number. They've confirmed it will be in my name but the wife's documents are for guarantee. Guarantee for what I asked, you've been paid. They can't answer that.
My wife has also had several conversations with them and told them point blank they don't need the requested documents because I have the yellow book.mthey wouldn't budge.

Immigration. The wife wasn't with me so I filled out both sections of the form and I signed it. No receipt for anything. TBH! I should have asked but I just wanted to get the docs over to Honda and have done with it.

On the up side. Call from Honda today, I've got a free Go Pro as a gift. Should they send it or will I pick it up. think ill ride ober to get it and then test it out when I ask them again why they needed a COR, and wife's documents.

I had problems with Honda Pattaya some 20 years ago when wanting to buy a new car. They would not budge on what they wanted, so I told them what to do with their car................Bought a Toyota instead..........Couldnt have been easier with very nice people

I think the best thing you could have done Feddy is just do as they ask,we both know you don't need a LoR to buy a Bike if you have a Yellow house book.No point in getting into a big argument , especially as you had gone to the trouble of getting a LoR anyway ,plus they only wanted your Wifes House book and ID Card details.
When I renewed my Driving Licence the first at my local Center they wanted my Wife's House-book and ID card even through I had my own Yellow House-book .When I politely told them "When I lived in Koh Samui I only needed my own paper work and what if I wasn't married and lived here alone ?? "  The top guy came over and said if I didn't want to do it THEIR way I could go elsewhere to renew my licence.I just smiles and handed over the photo copies of  what they asked for. 
The next time I went to renew my 1 year old Car DL I was told farangs couldn't have a 5 year Licence only a one year. Again I politely told the young lady "Then why did you give me a 5 year Bike DL last year?? " ...She run off and someone returned to sort out the DL renewal. So its always best to stay calm no matter how frustrating  it can be.

Take your point Smithy but just frustrates the hell out of me that I jumped through the hoops to get the yellow book to avoid this sort of nensense. 500 baht for a COR is no big deal but in principal, I shouldn't be expected to spend unnecessarily because a company can't be arsed to get themselves up to date. Not fussed about the copies of the wife's Housebook and ID as long as the bike is registered in my name.
Sure it's easier to get everything in her name but none of us know what's round that corner. For me though amd the main reason, I just like to feel that I at least own the vehicles and that they officially belong to me.
