Cinder blocks
« on: February 17, 2018, 05:54:41 PM »
Has anyone found anything like real cinder blocks in issan?  I?ll probably need a thousand or so. Not the half wide ones you can get anywhere around here. Thanks in advance.

Not sure what you mean by real cinder blocks ?

Most Builders Merchants sell cheap blocks at about 5/7 baht each

Then you have the Red Clay bricks ( of various sizes ) and then you have the white colored q con Blocks

The q con blocks are really light in weight but expensive.

Concrete blocks 200X200X400 is what I am looking for. Or something similar size. Qcon is definitely out of the question as is double wall with the half size blocks.

Super blocks can be bought at 10 baht each from Korat.  Each truck holds 2,300 super blocks.  The contact phone number is 081 2660108.  They don't speak English.

We built the walls of the house with 15cm wide diamond blocks. The house is cool even during the heat of the day, cooler than outside in the shade.
I highly recommend them for any house build (blocks are OK for walls).

The lower heat transfer into the house is good but they lack strength and ease for routing power and water lines. They have their place just not for me for this particular project.
