Because they want to, it is more of a Redneck thing.

In the article it states:  Others strongly disagree with his analysis. African Americans, especially older ones, are traumatised when they see the flag, says Salim Khalfani, who has lived in Richmond for nearly 40 years and thinks it risks making the city look like a "hick" backwater that is still fighting the Civil War.

But guess what, there is no "traumatized" clause in the US Constitution, there is no right "Not to be Outraged"

While I think individuals wearing Che T-Shirts or the Nazi Flag are ignorant, it is their right to do so.  Don't like it, TFB.  If you start banning things because people are offended 1)  Where does it stop?   2)  Who is the final arbritrator on what offensive item will be banned:

-  Muslims want to ban the Cross
-  Abortion advocates want to ban pictures of unborn babies.
-  Anti-military individuals was to ban the military wearing uniforms in public
-  Democrats want to ban the truth from getting out, and Rodeo Clowns from wearing an Obama Mask.

etc, etc, ect.

When you live in a free society, there is no right not to be offended, if you can't handle that, you are free to move to a society that bans stuff, just don't bitch when they came after you.

First they came for the communists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.

Then they came for the socialists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for me,
and there was no one left to speak for me.

Agree with most, screw people who are constantly offended... It's part of life.
By the way Keith it's not just the Democrats that want to ban the truth..... Seems to be the position of all political parties!

Well said... the intolerance level has been ratcheted up about 10 notches over the last 10 years.. time for people to chill but I doubt that will happen with all the hate mongers out there now.
