9 killed in van crash
« on: August 27, 2013, 08:55:17 AM »
This story horrifies me in many ways. 9 killed, 7 survivors.

5am Monday (yesterday) Chachoengsao Province. Full story in Bangkok Post "breaking news" online section.

Many comments regarding this tragedy have quickly condemned the van driver, but I urge you to look at all
3 attached photos, and make your own determination.

The truck was "parked" without any tailights in the traffic lane. Truck driver has been arrested. Van driver survived.

How many of us have had close calls with poorly parked vehicles on open highways ?

There is also an interesting link in the Bangkok Post article to licensing of vans for public use.

No doubt the truck driver and owner should be hanged but the van driver should be lynched. If you saw the way these van drivers are on the 214 you should be for extermination of them. pray1

I try to avoid driving at night in Thailand.  But I was having to go to Korat once a week and would come back at night.

I learned to look for dark spots where there should be lights. Often these dark spots turned out to be those puesdo trucks with tractor engines carrying wood, just chugging along with no lights.

How best to integrate with the native people.

Oh dear ,oh dear, oh dear.

What a way to look upon the people.
I bet you want all the non white British people to FOBWTC from.
Remember we are all guests in this country and as such should show the deserved respect to the native people.
The old and very true saying, IYDLIFOBTYOC , is very appropriate.
