Aussie legend dies
« on: March 02, 2013, 08:18:09 PM »
Of interest to Aussie expats only ........

"Peter Harvey .... Canberra" was the famous sign off

Peter Harvey 68 died of pancreatic cancer today. He had battled the cancer since Oct'12

Harvey was a legendary journalist on Australia television, covering mainly political stories. One of his earliest stories was reporting the infamous Whitlam dismissal.

He was with the Channel Nine Network for 37 years. His "rich baritone voice" was unmistakeable to all Aussies.

Of all the journalists over the years on TV, I must say I enjoyed his no nonense, factual reporting style.

Would have to be one of my favorite journo's and came across as an all round good guy.  RIP
