HELP::: Getting married what to do next for visa

This is my situation as of now...Im on a double entry and this is my last extension of it for 1 month that runs out on jan 19th... Im getting married this week and have the Affirmation letter and also letter of more than 40k income.... I live in Buriram and korat is my local immigration office... What do i do now and do i have the correct paperwork to go there and either get a NON O or an extension for 1 year? Kind regards David

This is a reply from another forum what i want to know is will i be sent to bangkok for my visa or will Korat do it for me there??

You need the letter translated into Thai and registered at MFA first. You then visit any District Office and register your marriage. You then visit immigration with marriage certificate and the ledger entry copy they provide to obtain non immigrant O entry (they will likely send you to Bangkok for this) and during the last 30 days of entry visit local office with the normal file of copies/photos and such for one year extension of stay. If easier you can take marriage certificate/copy of wife ID card (she needs new one after marriage) and her home register to Savannakhet to obtain the non immigrant O visa there. The financial paperwork would not be required and will probably be too old if you try to use for extension 60 days later.

Translated Immigration instructions re Visa Ext based on marriage
 

Non Immigrant O Extension Based on Marriage / Documents needed:
 1.
Application form T.M. 7 with one photograph size 4x6 cm.
Visa Fee 1900.-Baht
 2.
Copy of passport ( with certified true copy ) 2 copy
 3.
Marriage Certificate 2 copy (Copy of marriage registration Papers (Kor Ror.3)
4.
(Tabian Ban)Wife's house registration 2 copy
 5.
Wife's identity card 2 copy
 6.
Bank guarantee letter, signed by the bank manager, pick it up in the bank 1 day before
 7.
An updated Bank Book (updated on the same day as the bank guarantee paper),
Showing more than 400.000 (more than 3 month).
 OR
 Evidence of the male farangs monthly income of 40,000 Baht.
 Embassy letter if originating outside Thailand.
Tax receipts if from within Thailand.
 8.
Photos x 3: Include you and your wife in front of the house, then 2 others in/around your house. Bring photos from your wedding as well, it may also be good.
 PLUS MAP OF THE HOUSE ADDRESS.( Hand draw,not google map )
 9.
Copy of photo page, visa page and entry/permit to stay stamp page.
Add copy of TM6 departure card. (1 copy is enough) Just sign each copy that is what certification means.
 
3 to 5 Wife signs all of these and you also sign marriage certificate (it has your name on it).
(only one copy needed)
 10.
Need copies of bank book pages also signed. Best to get an update on the day you go to immigration.
 

Advice:
 

*Bring all originals you have with you just in case the officer would like to see them as well.
 *The wife had to fill in 'back-up' papers in THAI
 
PS I would go one week early and you will have to return Korat in 30 days to get your passport stamped,then every 90 days to  Immigration  to hand in your TH 47 .

Why do i have to go evey 90 days... Its a 1 year visit to immigration everyear i want not a 90 day turnaround every 3 months

Toffo - the 90 day visits to immigration are to notify them of your address in Thailand. This can be done also at Chong Chom, if that is nearer for you

The advice you got from the other forum in post 2 is accurate ....Take it 

IE..If easier you can take marriage certificate/copy of wife ID card (she needs new one after marriage) and her home register to Savannakhet to obtain the non immigrant O visa there.

The 3 month visa from Laos will give you enough time to sort out an extension based on marriage at the Local Immigration

After the last permission to stay has expired take marriage cert, passport, wife's ID card and blue house book to Khorat Immigration for a further 60 days for 1900baht.

Total stay 17 months on one visa.

Living so close to a border crossing this option can be quite convenient.

Doing it your way Starman will mean multi border cross and added costs ( transport to border ,Visa fee's and back handers ect X 4= maybe 15-20k )  .If you plan to live full time in Thailand Toffo far better to get the 3 month visa( 2000 Baht)  and and then get a visa extension for one year ( 1900 Baht ) and then  just do 90 reports at the local Immigration.
That is as long as you can prove you have money enough to stay,if you are here living with small funds then Starman's way is a good option to stay if you are married (

Not quite sure what you mean by back handers but never mind.

It all depends on ones own circumstances. Transport to border is neither here nor there as one would have to go to either the border or Khorat every 90 days anyway. Also having to go twice for the extension as the first time you only get an "under consideration" stamp.

It would cost, for visas only, 12500baht for a 17 months stay( cheaper if you apply for a Cambodian Evisa).A multi also enables you to go out of Thailand any time you want without needing a re entry permit.

If you take into account all of those things plus the costs of keeping 400k in the bank earning bugger all, or the cost of proof of income from embassy in Bangkok, then there is probably not a great deal of difference.

I was, after all, only offering and option. I know quite a few people that do it this way as an extension based on marriage is becoming more difficult to get.

Already have the letter stating i earn more than 40k per month from Embassy... Dont wanna do the 90 day visas i want the 1 year visit to korat so it looks like ill have to go to savannakhet first get a non O then visit korat for 1 year extension... Thanks for all the info

We all here to help Starman and to offer options ,don't take it personally if someone offers different information to you but if you had read the OP you would have seen Toffo has his letter from Embassy already and just wanted information for the best way to extend his visa at Korat.
 I don't know what you mean by saying "extension based on marriage is becoming more difficult to get". Its been the same for many years now apart from now you have to draw a map of where you live and have a few photo's of you and the Mr's around the home.Even most ex-pats with low IQ's can surely do this ...LOL

Its normal to go to Korat 1 week before your 3 month NoN O Visa runs out.They will then stamp your passport for one month whilst the paper work is sent to Bangkok.You then go back after a month to get the one year stamp in your passport.The one year will run from when you 3 month O visa finishes....Hope this helps ..WW
