Buying a pickup. Can't register on farang name?

I believe that when ownership of a car is transferred, there is a transfer tax payable, based upon the perceived value of he car + a fee for carrying out the transfer.

The same system applies when transferring ownership of land.

I think this tax is only payable if you havent owned it for 5 years

Up date, my one year bike licence issued in Pattaya was due for renewal on 10Th Aug so i go to Buriram Immigration on 9Th Aug for "Letter"proof of address, take this to Buriram Transportion10Th Aug, immigration put the wrong date from my Retirement Visa on Letter but still issued the licence she could see the right date in my Passport every think ok.I then asked about car licence, she asked if i had International Perit to go with my Swiss licence which i had. I'm English but lived Zurich for 4years hence Swiss licence,she then said ok "but"i have to get new letter with right date i replied to late Immigration only come for one day, she said go to police and get new Letter,ok go police with g/f photo copy's of all the normal,finger prints,and money how much UP TO YOU!!  I give 500b.
Back transportion give Letter get car licence no problem.IM GETTING TO PICKUP slowly. Yesterday we go to buy pickup i still had the letter of residence from police so take it with me show the salesman,then asked for passport he can see Retirement Visa with Non O, again photo copy's of everything,give money,pickup Registered in my name. Think we did a good job ive only been in Thailand 1 year my first ever time.g/f says looks like me
