Unregistered Motorcycles (SR400 or 500)
« on: November 05, 2008, 08:29:15 PM »
Hi All
Since living in Isaan I have resisted the urge to buy a motorcycle. You know, a 'proper ' one with fuel tank in front of you and not a scooter or step-thru or pretend Hardly Drivableson.  confused2
Back in the previous life I had numerous bikes (british, japanese & italian).  I think if the right Yamaha SR400 or even better 500 came up, I would not be able to resist it. jumping8
My main worry is that 99.9% of these are unregistered or have 'moody' Log book/papers. I have heard stories about riders having this type of arrangement for decades without
trouble from the BIB here in Isaan but wonder what you experiences are?
You do not need to tell me to go buy a new 125 bike with all the papers, as its not the type of bike I am looking for. I like the 'old stye' british thumper(even though it a Yamaha).

There are a few Yamaha SR400 and 500 's for sale here in Buriram :)

There is also a HUGE big bike fertenity here. Eveything from Harleys / yamaha dragstar, roadstar / honda steed, shadow / buell etc etc.

There is a regular "run" to places far and near just about every week.

Due to demand there is now a dedicated BIG BIKE shop here. Always has a few in stock....and can get anything in, if required ;)

Next to the pizza place just up from Bangkok Bank in town. I've been the other day and met a big fellow (Australian/Brit) called Rocky. I also saw a SR400 for 55,000 Baht.

Thanks Lourens

I might check that out. We met Aussie Rocky the other day. Great bloke with an even greater 1600cc motorbike.

Hi guys,Just went there today, met a thai guy saying he is the owner.
Asked him if there's a farang owner in the place.he answered;no.

I'm not a big fan of motorbikes but what I've seen there was very tempting to buy even for me.. hehe  confused2 massive bikes, yamaha, harley davidson, off road bikes.
Asked for prices and have been told on some big yamaha 80,000 Baht.
It may be before discount, who knows,go there and check it by yourself.
Also buy on credit is possible. (example:the yamaha was 50,000 down payment + around 2000+ x 24 months *as far as I can remember).

Anyway, this is the shop card."monster shop" big bikes in Buriram.  :o
address as said: between "Bkk bank" to "the pizza company" (closer to "the pizza company" shop.

 party3 cheers.

you're welcome.
I'm not tying to promote the place but I think its the only shop in Buriram for this kind of bikes, hopefully with all the right permissions/registration.

Go and have a look there. happy2

1 more place selling "monster bikes" is a shop near the government hospital.

Directions: If you're coming from the train-station turn right in the clock roundabout to Niwas road and in the next round about turn right toward the hospital,as you turn right you'll see the shop on the right side.
(*beside "Kon Rak Nang"-VCD shop).

Anyway,I've seen just few bikes in there but they look awesome ,Yamaha R ,and few others.

Go and have a look.  sawadi
