Commart Comtech 2009 expects to boost telecom spending to Bt4 billion at the four-day event that kicked off yesterday, said Pathom Indarodom, general manager of the organiser AR Information and Publications.

Pathom said the target for the fair, offering at least 50 new IT products at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre, had been raised from the original goal of Bt3.5 billion, against last year's Bt3.2 billion.

"Focus will be placed on personal computers and notebooks being offered at attractive prices," he said yesterday.

At the fair, Toshiba (Thailand) is offering two new laptops - the Portege T110 and T130 - complete with Windows 7 for Bt23,900 and Bt26,900, respectively. The T110 comes with an 11.6-inch wide screen and T130 with a 13.3-inch screen.

The Compaq Presario CQ40-514AU Notebook will be retailed at Bt13,900, excluding VAT.

Old HP LaserJet units can be traded in for new ones at a discount of Bt3,000, while HP Deskjet D5460 printers are going for just Bt2,490.

In order to attract more buyers of Windows 7 software, Microsoft (Thailand) is giving away at least one netbook every day.

The event is also showcasing advanced technologies, including 3G-enabled notebooks, Sony PS3 Slim, Windows 7, Intel Core i7, Toshiba Portege T110 and T130 slim laptops and all-in-one as well as touch-screen PCs.

Asustek Computer is offering a limited number of the Asus Notebook X8AC-VX009X for Bt12,900, excluding VAT, and the Asus Eee PC 1005HA-BLK107X, WHI088X for Bt14,900, plus VAT.
