Thank you 7, but how incompetent of the Police. 

Helping the farangs in Sisaket? Unbelievable, The problem is on the border a long way from Sisaket!  Me thinks there is more to it -ie they got wind of a possible very small turnout.

I now have to turn out and tell 2 people the seminar is cancelled as I do not have their telephone numbers. Lucky I logged on this morning or would be facing a 100km round trip for nothing - not even a cup of coffee! 

Will think twice next time - if there is a next time!

My apologies if my comments are out of order, but in my 20 years+ in Thailand I have developed a certain cynicism towards statements made by government bodies.

What help could the foreigners in Sisaket possibly require at this time regarding the border troubles at the temple.  No doubt the Thai army are out in full force and likely nobody, Thai or foreign are able to get within 10kms of the temple.  The foreigners in the province are most likely centred in the provincial capital area, well away from the current stand-off. Where do the Tourist police expect to meet and assist the foreigners?  In their SiSaket watering holes.? Beats coffee and lunch at the Thepnakorn!

But the cancelled seminar is now history, and we are promised another at some future date.

It being clear that very few foreigners had any knowledge of the seminar, may I suggest that perhaps 7, who seems to have close contact with the police, recommends to them that details of the next seminar be forwarded to every known farang watering hole throughout the province from Satuk in the north to Ban Kruat and Lahansai in the south. If the tourist Police do not know where these are I am sure the regular Police do.  I would also suggest that details be posted on the Isaan forum on Thai Visa website, which, no doubt, much to the chagrin of buriramexpats is more widely read. Maybe then a reasonable turnout could be expected and there will no need to look for excuses to cancel.

Again my apologises for the late cancel-date of the seminar. The next date will be published on the Buriramexpats and this time we will have more time to inform all Foreigners in the whole area. Last time we only informed foreigers in Buriram city and Nangrong. We only had a short time to prepare before, but this time we will have more time to prepare and we will get the adresses from the Royal Thai Police so we can inform everyone.

hello,

The website will be in english. Once this is done we will translate the wbsit in Thai. So yes this will be a dual webite. But for now the main language is english.

Dave ... the above website in Phuket looks to be a reasonable attempt to attract volunteers for a worthwhile cause. I'm thinking if I was in trouble in Phuket I'd be pretty happy to see them come to my assistance ?

Have you some basis for your opinion they are "nothing but scum(e)" ?

 There are other documented case in Pattaya and Chaing Mai. There are those that mean well but unfortunately there are more want to be assholes than good. I have personally thrown them out of my establishment in Chiang Mai. And yes they would be the last group of expats I would turn to.

Why do you feel that you specifically need tourist police?

If you have a complaint of a criminal nature then just go to the police station.
