Covid -19
The paragraphs below were written by a nurse who works with ventilators:
For those who insist on going out and about without regard to the consequences of catching the Covid-19, they need to understand what it means to be on a ventilator.
For starters, it's NOT an oxygen mask put over the mouth while the patient is comfortably lying down and reading magazines.
Ventilation for COVID-19 is a painful intubation that goes down your throat and stays there until you live or you die.
It is done under anaesthesia for 2 to 3 weeks without moving, often upside down, with a tube inserted from the mouth up to the trachea and allows you to breathe to the rhythm of the lung machine.
The patient can't talk or eat, or do anything naturally - the machine keeps you alive.
The discomfort and pain they feel from this means medical experts have to administer sedatives and painkillers to ensure tube tolerance for as long as the machine is needed. It's like being in an artificial coma.
After 20 days from this treatment, a young patient loses 40% muscle mass, and gets mouth or vocal cords trauma, as well as possible pulmonary or heart complications.
Add a tube into your stomach, either through your nose or skin for liquid food, a sticky bag around your butt to collect the diarrhea, a trolley to collect urine, an IV for fluids and meds, an A-line to monitor your BP that is completely dependent upon finely calculated med doses, teams of nurses, CRNA?s and MA?s to reposition your limbs every two hours and lying on a mat that circulates ice cold fluid to help bring down your 104 degree temp.
It is for this reason that old or already weak people can't withstand the treatment and die.
Anyone want to try all that out?
This is NOT the flu.
Regards

Tassie, appreciate your contribution, although not strictly Thailand related. I was not aware of details of this treatment and it was an interesting read. Please keep on posting....

Many thanks halfaboy, you get the importance of the message. One of my daughters in Australia, is a very experienced nurse at a major NSW hospital. She is the head triage nurse,  who sent me the article which I posted.  I never knew what went on with this treatment,  as it is the same for Thailand,   as it is for the rest of the world.

In view of the above, I must accept that my assumption that Tassie had gone sniveling to MOD was wrong on this occasion and for that I apologise.

Food for thought

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-8652523/No-lockdown-no-hysteria-DOMINIC-SANDBROOK-asks-Sweden-proof-got-terribly-wrong.html

The world has suffered from mass hysteria fuelled by the internet, with lives, jobs and whole economies ruined for no reason.

UK Government Scientist Admits Lockdown Was a ?Monumental Mistake on a Global Scale

A scientific advisor to the UK government says the coronavirus lockdown was a ?panic measure? and a ?monumental mistake on a global scale.?

Infectious diseases expert and University of Edinburgh professor Mark Woolhouse acknowledged that the decision to lockdown in March was a ?crude measure? that was enacted because ?we couldn?t think of anything better to do.?

?Lockdown was a panic measure and I believe history will say trying to control Covid-19 through lockdown was a monumental mistake on a global scale, the cure was worse than the disease,? said Woolhouse, who is now calling on the government to unlock society before more damage is done.

?I never want to see national lockdown again,? he added. ?It was always a temporary measure that simply delayed the stage of the epidemic we see now. It was never going to change anything fundamentally.?

The professor asserts that the impact of the response to coronavirus will be worse than the virus itself.

?I believe the harm lockdown is doing to our education, health care access, and broader aspects of our economy and society will turn out to be at least as great as the harm done by COVID-19,? said Woolhouse.

Richard Sullivan, professor of cancer at King?s College London, previously warned that there will be more excess cancer deaths over the next 5 years than the number of people who die from coronavirus in the UK due to the disruption caused by the coronavirus lockdown, which is preventing cancer victims from getting treatment.

Figures also show that there were more excess deaths during the 2017-18 flu season (around 50,000) than the total number of people in the UK who have died from coronavirus (41,433).

However, a survey conducted last month found that Brits thought around 7 per cent of the population, 5 million people, had been killed by COVID-19.

The last paragraph sums up that project fear has worked on the not so bright !!!
