The Bangkok bank has been issuing debit cards using union pay.  We were told by the bank that this card worked overseas.  No it does't. This system is not useable overseas, it  is for Thailand only.  We had to change to Mastercard for a payment of 400 baht to be able to access our money overseas.

Tassie, many topics about this fact on Thaivisa.

And that is one of the reason why I (and I think many others) stopped using Bangkok Bank, they also invalidated all "OLD" (but still valid) Visa Debit Cards. Mine was valid till 2025 but it stopped working end of August. I used that one for Internet Payments only.

Also be aware that the Mastercard Debit Card from BKK Bank CAN NOT be used for Internet Payments.

I now only have a Fixed Deposit (For Immigration) at BKK Bank, but after my upcoming extension is granted I will move that Money to SCB or KSK.

BKK bank master card.  Can be used for internet banking but you must have the BKK bank authorised payment registration.  That is the one where they demand an OTP number which is sent to your Thai phone message app.  Works a treat.  Easy to register.
Beware!  If you get the OTP wrong 3x your card is frozen...   Even if the mistake is caused by faulty connection or a mixup in their system (could it ever happen...them, a mistake?).  K bank has an easier system and they have visa.  You can also go to your nearby ATM box (with both) and make a payment that way.  Using your card to access your account.  I keep money in 2 banks, 4 separate accounts in 4 branches just in case...  The Union card sucks, big time.

How to get a credit card please?  Some sites and services only accept these cards.  No job no yellow book.  Any card any bank will do.  Ideas please and thank you.

Go to any BKK bank that you are able to communicate with.  As is, somebody who speaks your language working in that branch.   The person will take you to the ATM machine and register your card.  If that doesn't work, they will call and do it by speaking on the phone.  Several times entering your card and taking sometime to do it.  Or, you can try to do it yourself by calling 0245 5555 or 1333.  You will quickly see why I recommend going to the bank.  Good luck!
