It's personal preference really! I use them professionally as it's a requirement in many companies but given the horrendous state of driving in Thailand, if you have a record of an incident it does make life easier and the 'Farang is guilty because he is a Farang' may not apply! It's only a few thousand bhat extra and I think it's worth it.

I've actually uploaded some of the footage and looked back on it. I know many of us have seen some stupid thing on the road but it's good to have a record of it, just in case.

FYI, I e-mailed Eagle asking about the Nuvi2575 with camera and got a reply within 30 minutes !!!!
They forgot the price but say they will EMS to Buriram free on orders over 5000 Baht.
The Driving Recorder is out of stock (expected 31st) hopefully the price will be as Jamaw said

They are selling very quickly and I did compliment them on the service. I had a few queries afterwards and mailed them and they resoned 'after hours' and were very helpful!

It seems a very good deal especially with the 'lifetime update' of maps!

Are there any problems installing this in your car ? Any technical skills required ?

Dundee - very easy to do, instructions very simple, just plug and play. The only 'technical' part is downloading the memory card from the camera to the computer, having downloaded the required software but the Eagle people are very helpful so no worries.

I've tried many GPS systems but nothing beats Garmin. They never used to be brilliant for street maps but now they are very detailed. I've hired cars with GPS and didn't like them, this is much better.

I have a little Satnav
It sits there in my car
A Satnav is a driver's friend
It tells you where you are
I have a little Satnav
I've had it all my life
It’s better than the normal ones
My Satnav is my wife
It gives me full instructions
Especially how to drive
"It's thirty miles an hour", it says
"You're doing thirty five"
It tells me when to stop and start
And when to use the brake
And tells me that it's never ever
Safe to overtake
It tells me when a light is red
And when it goes to green
It seems to know instinctively
Just when to intervene
It lists the vehicles just in front
And all those to the rear
And taking this into account
It specifies my gear.
I'm sure no other driver
Has so helpful a device
For when we leave and lock the car
It still gives its advice
It fills me up with counselling
Each journey's pretty fraught
So why don't I exchange it
And get a quieter sort?
Ah well, you see, it cleans the house,
Makes sure I'm properly fed,
It washes all my shirts and things
And - keeps me warm in bed!
Despite all these advantages
And my tendency to scoff,
I do wish that once in a while
I could turn the damned thing off.
