90 Day Report, Address Verification
« on: May 02, 2010, 10:12:17 AM »
I recently moved here from Pattaya. I have had a retirement visa for 3 years.
In Pattaya last year they started to require address verification in the form of
utility bill addressed to the expat, rental agreement or drivers license (old
style).

My question is is this also a requirement in Chok Chai?

If it is, I am living with my legally married Thai wife, but the house and all
utility bills are in her mothers name.
I paid for building this home over 8 years ago.
What can I use for this verification.
Will a letter signed by my wife or mother-in-law stating I am residing there full time work?

Hello,
As far as I know the 90 requirement has been in effect for a long time, all over Thailand. I have used my lease as proof when I rented in BKK. As I "own" a house here in Isan, I use my wifes blue book(tabien ban). Use a copy of moms book with some photos of your wife and you out front, if you are worried about the verification. I have never used the photos and they have never asked. It matches the address on my thai drivers licence. If anyone knows more, they'll chime in. Good luck.

By the way, I still use the Kap Chong/Chong Chom(sp?) border office for 90 day check in, I'm in Prakonchai and it's a nicer drive for me. bike038

I am a bit like you safetykenap. So i explaned this to my thai lady told her i need address for this  house so i can make 1yr visa. So ask popa he said ok. We need man from village like counciler as a witness and then we go office same  office you can marry thai style. Popa show his blue book and counciler sighn paper saying i live there and then office man make YELLOW book for me and now no problems. You will need lots of photo coppys ie. passport, blue book, pic of you same as passport size and about 1hr free time. Its a free service. Hope this will help you.

I agree with everything you say here, but I found it not quite as simple as suggested. It involved a couple of visits to the Aumphur with the PooYai Baan(Village headman) and a sort of interview too. In saying this I must admit that in true Thai fashion EVERY OFFICE WORKS TO DIFFERENT RULES and it only needs doing once (assuming you dont move home)

I always do my 90 days reporting in Pattaya & haven't been asked for 'proof' on the last 2 occasions

From the outside (USA) looking in and planning to live at my GF's home near Buriram, it might just be easier to set up a lease with her and use that as address  verificaiton.  I expect it to cost me anyway.
