Flooding in Issaan?
« on: July 31, 2017, 08:13:26 AM »
Watching the news and the reports of flooding all around Isaan.  We have had some heavy downpours in the Lahansai/Ban Kruat area of Southern Buriram, but I have not seen any flooding, other than temporary ponding on some areas of some roads.

Have any BE members seen flooding in the area? Maybe we have just dodged to bullet?

I just used a "road" along the power lines, it was almost unusable.  If I had know how bad the last 20 meters was I would have used another route.  Had to wash the scooter (and my legs) when I got home.

However, when I got here in 2011 there was some real flooding, I don't see it near that now.

Agree. The road to our village used to get regular flooding in 2012 & 2013 when I was first coming to this area. On occassioms impassable. It seems the water management has greatly improved, in our area at least.

This was just outside of our village, road will be unpassable for a another couple of weeks ???? (for cars) because of broken pipes under the road surface

As I can't edit my Post anymore.

When going from our Village to Krasang there are large areas flooded, when I go that way I will take some pictures. Fortunately that flooding don't effect the roads much.

The reserviors are filling, Moo 4 will probably have to be drained some soon, they have a ditch and duct system here to move water.  Moo 4 can be transferred to Moo 1 which can then be transferred Moo 17.

Here is a view from a few years ago (2014) of Moo 17, and the picture below is from the same location today.

As you can see Moo 17 is only half full.

Good that you have reserviors in your area, here the only reserviors we have are rice fields so the rice harvest for some farmers in the area will be NON-existing this year.
