Chong Chom -> Phnom Phen transportation question
« on: December 06, 2015, 02:08:04 PM »
We want to go for a couple of days to Phnom Phen, instead of going to BKK and flying was thinking of going via Chong Chom.

Does anyone know if there is a possibility to go from Chong Chom to Phnom Phen?
Prices and time it takes would also be very helpful.

Leave it guys, Just looked at Google Maps and it takes around 8 hours. Flying it is ;)

.. so you're going to get to Bangkok (6 hours) and take a plane (one hour)? Plus all the airport hassle? Two four hours stints if 8 hours is too much. The only thing against the plan is that it is difficult to get insurance for a car in Cambodia

Thanks.

I will not be driving / take my car across, so in Cambodia we depend on Public Transport / Taxi, and thought that going via CC to PP is easy and does only take a couple of hours. But not 8 :(

Getting to BKK and back is no problem. Will take the late afternoon flight from Satuek and have a flight early morning to PP. Can stay the night at my SIL.

On the way back from PP, take a morning flight to BKK, and take the +/- 14:00 flight back to Satuek.

Edit: It's also a 1.5hour drive for me to get to CC, so it would be a 10 hour+ trip (no idea what state the roads are in in Cambodia)

2013 took a taxi from O'Smach  to PP. The ass hole went by SR. Took 10 hours ,he should of gone down the west side of the lake on highway 5 which would of taken only 6 hours. Cost was 4500 baht. The price was OK BUT make sure you make  it known which route you want.

Thanks GL.

But made my mind up and will be flying. But when in PP, will ask around what a Taxi to O'Smach (I don't think they will know CC (555555)) costs.

Agree that the SR to PP route is a bitch - and has been for several years.

6 hours is likely

Fly.
