« on: March 09, 2015, 10:20:57 AM »
The Buriram Global House Store will offer incredible sale prices in every department starting on March 28th. Live Entertainment, Prize Drawings and Special guests will make the store opening event to set the bar high in Buriram Until 3 April. Taken from Facebook)
I can't wait to take a drawing of a prize home with me.

Would be great if they sold misting fans that is a fan that sprays out water.. Yes I know Homepro does them but they are the cheap bad ones.. When I was on the Vegas strip they had big misting fans there.. Can't find them anywhere and really could do with one in this heat

IMHO. Lost Wages is in the desert and temps can get above 120F or 50C. The heat there is dry and yes these misters  work great their and also in Phoenix. I to have spent my time is this climate and the reason these mister work is you have very low humidity. Thailand happen to be in the tropic where there is always high humidity which makes the air fell like it is hotter than it is but like lately the ambient temp has been between 35C and 38C. Yes these mister are sold in Thailand but look around you and how many do you see in operation, not to many. Reason is they don't do the job and they are wast of money for this climate. All your doing is putting more water in the air and raising the humidity about you. If you must buy a unit buy a cheep Chinese unit. You'll junk in time. Not because its Chinese but it won't do what you want it to do. AIR CON thumbup

Why wouldn't it work here??   I've also been in the middle of the desert in Iraq but it is nothing to the Humidity you get here.. Surely it will cool me down if it has ice water in it... The cheap ones I've saw in Homepro and they are weak in power.. You don't see them here because they ain't too cheap and many Thais would rather suffer than pay 30/40k baht for one.. Surely if I'm next to it I'm going to be cooler or am I incorrect??

You may feel some relief but you'll more like be a sponge. I have seen systems such as were talking about installed at a few restaurants in Thailand and by the next year they are removed. moneysmile As I said your only adding more water into the surrounding atmosphere which is already has high humidity. Need to ask yourself..if these units are so great why are they not flying out the front door of the DIY stores..electrical consumption wise they beat air con hands down. Todays temp is scheduled to be about 101 F with a heat factor of 110 F. That heat factor is your humidity. Air Con, Air Con party4

Try this for size: http://www.csgnetwork.com/canhumidexcalc.html
At the moment we have 34°C, 53% humidity. That registers as 'Great discomfort; avoid exertion' (meaning stay in bed and have a beer). Not the same for everyone of course but actually adding to the humidity doesn't seem to be a good idea. Air con dries the air as well as cooling it, for a good reason.
As far as any electronic equipment is concerned, I think I prefer dry to wet.

This past weekend I had the opportunity to spend a few hours inside the new Buriram Global House Store. It is clean, well lit, has some great product show displays, a wide variety of brands I know and some I am not familiar with, and is staffed by an enthusiastic young and perky group of employees. I noted none were on mobile phones. This Global House Store will prove to be a strong competitor and good source of items I do not stock at Ruangsangthai. I now know a local store with fair prices to suggest to my customers if they request an electric room heater, fiberglass spa tub, children's swimming pool, outdoor patio furniture, or combination safes.  I've made a larger commitment to name brand products with repair and spare parts support including Honda, DeWALT, Milwaukee, Hitachi, Makita, Mitsubishi, and Briggs & Stratton. I have hired more repair department technicians and additional water pump installers. My family and I very much appreciate the support shown by the expat community in and near Buriram.  I spent several hours noting the prices on identical products both Ruangsangthai and the Buriram Global House have on display and in stock. I can meet or beat any identical item in any department we both have in stock including kitchen sinks, toilets, paint, power tools, garden tools, water pumps and generators. Simply bring a copy of the Buriram Global House advertisement or a photo you take of a shelf price tag and I will gladly meet or beat that price.  No matter where someone buys a name brand power tool, water pump, lawn mower, air compressor, generator or garden tool please consider Ruangsangthai as your 'go to" place for prompt and professional repairs. Please allow my sales, installation or repair staff to earn your business.

We had a look around yesterday. I doubt that we will be back, the price of the few things that I knew were more expensive than in Thaiwatsadu which are in their turn more expensive than at Pichai's place. Of course they do have stuff you don't find elsewhere.
It is one of these places where you get a big smile and sawasdi every two minutes, which I hate, I like to look before I go ask.
