Extension of stay based on Thai children
« on: November 08, 2015, 08:52:05 AM »
Has anyone applied for an extension of stay based on Thai children at Kap Choeng immigration?
If so what was your experience?
Which documents were required?

First question is ...Are you legally married to the child's mother?

No but I possess all the paperwork from the courts and amphur legitimising the position
We have lived as a family before during and since birth of the kids.

I am more concerned about the specific paperwork required by KCI

That is the first bit done then. The other reason I asked was that Kap Cheong rarely offer this extension if your are married. They will advise to extend on marraige.

I would be inclined to call or visit Immigration and ask. The rules have been chopping and changing for a while now.

Many thanks for your reply
I have tried asking/visiting KCI on a couple of occasions and and didn't really get anywhere on either occasion.
Hence the reason for my post. I wanted to see if anyone had had experience of this option

I know of one guy that did this a couple of years ago.

The financial side was the same as marriage. (although the law actually states that no seasoning is needed, so might want to check that).

The documents were: Copy of childs ID card (if over 7). A copy and original of birth certificate. The copies of court papers. Proof that you live together and take care of your child. Not listed but worth taking would be copies of ID and house reg of the mother of the child. Also you need to take your child to immigration with you.
