Buriram "A quiet backwater"
« on: March 12, 2013, 06:56:40 PM »
Not on your life ! This occurred in broad daylight on Monday 11th in the centre of town near Daweng Dang

Machete-wielding teen killed by guard
BURI RAM - A dozen machete-wielding teens, mostly aged 15-16, raided a tertiary school in an attempt to assault the principal in broad daylight on Monday, but were intercepted by an armed security guard who killed one of them and injured two others, ASTV Manager's website reported.
The attack took place at Buri Ram Nursing School when the school opened for classes and teachers were organising a freshman orientation ceremony.
The attackers, who covered their faces in black silk masks and carried machetes, arrived in two pickup trucks. They ran into the school and tried to attack Watcharapon Thongsiri, the school’s principal, who fled and hid in a building, said ASTV Manager. The incident caused panic to those on the premises and residents who live nearby.
When the group continued to search for Mr Watcharapon, Kwanfah Srinarak, 29, a guard and Mr Watcharapon’s driver who carries a 9mm pistol, fired about a dozen shots at the intruders, who fled the scene on trucks waiting for them.
Police later found one of the trucks parked outside a local hospital with five suspects in it, three of them wounded.
One of the injured, who was aged 17, succumbed to his wounds after being shot in the chest.
Mr Watcharapon told police a rival school which offers practical nursing programmes was likely to be behind the attack. The principle was attacked by two men wearing helmets and armed with machetes on the school’s premises in July last year. He was slashed in the face and treated with more than 100 stitches.
Mr Watcharapon filed a police complaint but no progress had been made in the case.
An investigation is underway to identify the people behind the attack.

Correct me if I am wrong but where does it say the guard has been arrested~~~ personally think he should get a gong, at least he has done something to deserve it, unlike most of the medal bedecked ego polishers.

Somehow gang warfare between two nursing schools seems like a soap opera plot!

"BURI RAM - A dozen machete-wielding teens, mostly aged 15-16, raided a tertiary school"

Buriram?  -  Really!?  A 'nursing' school ??  Am certainly glad someone was able to stop this madness.

My condolences to the bereaved family, but . . . . .

The kids are from Sisaket, apparently they already tried to do the same job last year, the target being the head teacher of the school. I doubt that this is only about competition between schools, something else must be involved. I will keep my ear to the ground.
The security guard seemed to be well treated and wasn't hanging his head as they usually do. He'll be Ok.
