Your GF most probably will give money to her family - it's the Thai way. All (working) Thai people that I know send money back home to support their families.

This is why there is an expectation that Farangs help out when they are the earners in the family. It's just that some "GF's"
abuse this, but then it is just as much the fault of the Farang for allowing this :)

On our last visit my wife gave a few thousand baht (5K on arrival and 3K on leaving if I remember correctly) and she bought a washing machine as the old one had just given out. On top of that buying food and a bit of drink for the immediate family who lives in the house and that was it.

Just to clarify some points. NDD is a bustling market town with a couple of 7/11's and is lively from sunrise until sunset. There are no activities for Farang people that I know of.

The villages that everyone talks about are smaller communities outside of the town where there is even less to do and this is where most people live.

In the village where my wife comes from there are 3 part-time farangs and there was one full time one who passed away last year.

Good luck with the trip.

Mike

Yes, she sends money home every month.
But that is ok. I'ts her money, and does not affect our joint economic (we have a joint banc account witch we put money inn to every month, for food and stuff).

5k on arriwal, and 3k when we go, sounds ok.
5000 bath is about what it costs for one night in a hotel in Norway  :o

Thanx!
I'm looking forward to visit Thailand
