1900 Baht for Retirement Visa + 1000 Baht for SINGLE Re-entry permit =2900 Baht sounds like you have been had  loco
I think the 3,800 Baht was for a multiply re-entry visa Binnsy.

Yes, I got a multiple entry.  It means if I decide to go to Cambodia or Laos, I just go, no worries.  It also means if I need to go back the states for some reason (my dad is 87), again, no worries, I just go.

From my standpoint, it is not worth saving 3000 baht going with a single entry visa.  If there is any chance at all of you going to another country, spend the extra and get a multi-entry.   Not worth the hassle in the baht you are saving.

Just an update.

My 90 day report was due 24 April, however I needed to go to the USA to take care of some issues.  With a multi entry permit I made my plane reservations to leave 23 April.  Then a month later changed to leave 21 April so I could fly to Bangkok from Buriram.  No Thai paperwork or notification required.

Left out of BKK on 21 April.  Returned 15 May.  Some issue with immigration because they stamped my exit from Thailand under my 2012 re-entry permit.  But got it squared away, my next 90 day report is due 13 August.

Other information.  I had 2 large duffles of baggage along with a new infant car seat (see other posting of mine for that).  I have learned that when exiting Thai customs, just walk like you know what you are doing and avoid eye contact.  It did not work this time, some Thai custom's official stopped me saying I needed have my bags X-rayed, no big issue for me as I was not really bringing anything prohibited.  When he asked me where I lived lived, I replied Thailand.  He then asked me what work I did, I replied I am retired, I don't work and have a retirement visa.  He then stopped me from going to the X-Ray and said go ahead and exit.

Can't really blame him for stopping me with all the crap I brought back from the US.

Tourist Visa to USA is nearly non existant.  However, if you are from mexico, just swim!

You have that right.  I am 2 years into working to get my TG a fiance' visa, and still no joy.   So I don't complain about Thailand immigration, wish the US would take some lessons from them.

Did you ever get that visa?  Mine took 9 months, then took about another 9 to get the 2 year permanent resident card.  My buddy applied for his TW perm. resd. card and he just got it last month, took about 16months.  I think with the new Mexican amnesty program, it slowed things considerably.

No, never got the visa for my TG to go to America.  Tried 4 times (3 tourist 1 fiance'), 2 congressionals, and no joy.  So said F@@k it and I would just live here in Thailand.

And while I jokingly considered the Mexican option, too much personal risk to her.  However, I did have an offer to bring her in by private yacht, seriously considered that, but since she is 6+ months pregnant that would also be a bridge too far.  Once you're in the US as an illegal it seems the GVT won't do anything to get rid of you.

Will probably try the tourist option again in about a year, will then have a US Passport for our daughter.

Urleft, that is unbelievable.  In my experience calling to ask whats up is not worth the time because all they tell you is make an appointment.  I made the appointment and all they could say was "it is in process."  When I demanded in person to speak to a supervisor who said she would check into it, but I said you check, I will wait here.... she did check and found that somehow two files were made because of an address change.  So they merged the files and we finished the process about 6 months later.  What I did learn about tourist visa is that if you have any intention or they sense that the applicant wants to stay in America, they do not issue the visa.  So having a BF or significant other makes it worse.  The wait for application to bring WIFE into America takes longer than Fiance.   I wonder if since I was married in America to TW, and did not do paperwork in Thailand, will I have difficulties since I did not need the "single letter."  I have no clue.  Good luck to you urleft.  Maybe an immigration attorney could help?  Just a thought.

Just did the 90 report at KCI today.

-  Got there at 1105, took number "12", and walking into room.  I have not been to KCI since Jan, they have rearranged again. More seats inside with 4 desks lined up to support you, the first desk for 90 day reports, the other 3 for "visas'.  Unfortunately the 90 report desk was unmanned, so I waited for 18 minutes until my number came up, then took 2 minutes to put all the stamps on the form I had pre printed.  20 minutes in and out for a 5 minute operation, but TIT.

-  Traffic really sucked today.  Not sure why but the 2 lane to KCI was about as busy as the 2 lane between Buriam and Korat.  Also had 3 police checkpoint on the way there, none on the return.

-  And I successfully avoided spattering the Scooter that passed me on the right as I made a right (signaled for 30 meters) turn.  But had to change my underware.

Was this your first 90 day report?  Sounds like you have it pretty much streamlined.

I know someone with a retirement extension who paid 2,000 Baht and doesn't have to go back and do 90 day reports.

"See you in 12 months" he was told.

Max fine for not reporting is 5000 bt. I'm aware of this subject and two other gentlemen that were present in the office and they inquired about this and were told by the immigration supervisor that this could not be done. IF this is true it seems to be  "sure i'll take your money sucker" and in a year another 5000 bt. or its a troll comment. Remember +15 and -7 days on day 8 it is a 2000 bt fine for being late. Max fine for not reporting is 5000 bt.

Typical Belgian, jumping to conclusions  :P

I gave Richard the information that caused him to ask the question (a topic had been running on Thai Visa).

It matters not a jot to me personally, but I like to keep abreast of developments at KCI.

A few weeks ago I bumped into a Scottish gentleman at Coffee Corner. He happened to mention that he had done his annual retirement extension and had received four 90 day reporting slips in return for paying 2,000 Baht. He hadn't asked the question - I gathered it was something he had been offered.

Saw him again yesterday (ironically whilst I was with Richard) and he repeated what had happened. I suggested that no one believes this so he has offered to bring in his paperwork next week.

Croc - ask Richard if he knows of anyone else who has done this............................................
