Whilst waiting for my afternoon massage I have been doing some research for my flights next year:-

THAI   83,870 Baht for 2 tickets BKK - London Heathrow and return. Flight times 12.05 hrs and 11.15hrs

BA 62,680 Baht  12.45 hrs and 11.35 hrs

BA booking through Netflights GBP 1,350 (= ex rate 46.4)

EVA  51,170 Baht 12.35 hrs and 11.30 hrs.

If I wanted to save a tad with a Middle Eastern hop:-

OMAN GBP 531, Emirates GBP 570 and Etihad GBP 580.

I have to say that EVA wins hands down for me. Now................. if only the rate was GBP?THB 52 again  thumbup

Apologies for monopolising this thread but the following is also something I appear to have missed re baggage allowance on EVA:-

Adjustments of Free Baggage Allowance for Europe FlightsApplicable Conditions and Routes   Class   Before Adjustment   After Adjustment

Ticketing in Europe and departing from Europe.
Ticketing in Thailand and departing from Thailand for Europe.

   Business/Premium Laurel/Royal Laurel   30kg (66lb)   40kg(88lb)
Elite   25kg (55lb)   35kg(77lb)
Economy   20kg (44lb)   30kg(66lb)

The adjustments apply to the flights that BR operates, or BR is of operating carrier for the longest sector in interline journey. The IATA Resolution 302 related to baggage provision should be complied with when itinerary involves interline.
All pieces of baggage in excess of 32 kg (70 lb) must be repacked to prevent injury to baggage handlers. The weight limit restriction refers to a single item and will not affect the baggage allowance or excess baggage fee of your trip.

Agree a good point re: safety. As Co co says, it's the comfort factor + the entertainment systems. The newer aircraft have the bigger screens, and improved inter- activity. After being used to this it was noticeable how dated the system on the older aircraft was.

Also things like sound insulation and just the rattles from the plastic fittings throughout the aircraft.

Maybe some special deals coming up from Emirates after their recent issue?
