Dow to build B2bn plantDow Chemical Co plans to invest 2 billion baht (US$67 million) to expand its propylene glycol production in Thailand.
The Board of Investment (BoI) said yesterday that the new plant, to be located at the Asia Industrial Estate in Rayong, would have annual capacity of 150,000 tonnes.
Dow Chemical, which has five propylene glycol plants around the world, has invested about 142.4 billion baht in Thailand, including its own investments and joint ventures with Siam Cement Plc, Thailand's top industrial conglomerate, it said.

Mr Chaiwuti said the investment was good news for the country.
He said that the propylene glycol production plant would use environment-friendly technologies.

Apart from Thailand, Dow Chemical has five propylene glycol plants in North America, Germany, Brazil and Australia.
