I was just wondering about the quality of postal services in the province of Buriram for you guys? A replacement credit card didn't arrive two years ago, ok, that can happen. I just realised that as a Swiss citizen, I should have been receiving voting material about three times a year for the last four years; I received TWO. I have to get stuff sent to a PO box 20Km from here, which isn't always convenient for me and banks and the Swiss government won't send registered mail to PO boxes ( as no one can sign for me). .
Before I start to get heavy on our friendly local recycler of waste paper, who has been seen holding envelopes into the sun without any effort to hide what he was doing, I was wondering if this is really just a very local problem or if Buriram province in general has a problem?

I have found local (in side Thailand) postal very good, especially for packages. They will ship your scooter and even brought my grill to me.
For international, when I have something important I ship it EMS, from the USA it's DHL. However, standard mail can be hit or miss. I have several letters I was expecting that I have given up for lost.
-
As far as I can tell, I have received all expected mail from within Thailand and also from Europe.
-
When I moved from Pattaya to Buriram I had some friends (back in Europe) send me some postcards, with different variations of our address here in Buriram.
They all arrived except 1 and that was the one which "intentionally" hadn't enough stamps on it.
However YMMV.
For important documents and CC, Debit Cards, I always use Fedex. (Haven't lost one yet)

I have only had one letter lost in 18 years. That was an international letter.
When using courier services like Dhl or FedEx the companies often only send as far a Korat.
My last two courier packages have arrived at our house via our usual postman.

My last two courier packages have arrived at our house via our usual postman.
All the courier packages I have had delivered, from InvadeIT, Apple, Lazada etc etc where all delivered the same company "Kerry Logistics" (and same driver), when asked the driver said that they deliver (in my region) all packages from for example Fedex, DHL etc etc
However the packages send by EMS get delivered via our usual postman and he usually phones ahead (before delivery) if we are at home (if a package needs a signature). Good service I think

There doesn't seem to be a fixed system.
Of the 3 Lazada packages I have ordered 2 came via Kerry and 1 by postman.
As a side note...if I am expecting something from abroad I, where possible, email them my wife's name and our address in Thai. I ask them to put a sticker on the package so that Thail authorities can read it.
I would be happy to help to type this for any members who may wish to use this method.

OK, so it must be the local postman. He may lose his job soon I reckon.

We had one package in over 18 months here not make it. I receive a monthly statement and nearly monthly mailings from my re-mailer service back in the US which have all made it. It seems to take about 3 weeks for regular mail.
For a while packages I had sent from overseas (generally China) got held at the local post office until we went and paid them a 7 baht fee. I asked the last time that they just bring them to the house and we'd pay the fee to the postman. Since then they've brought everything directly and haven't asked for the fee.
I also get most, but not all, of my Lazada purchases and registered mail delivered by Kerry.

Wow, finally an explanation that makes perfect sense. Thanks Paul.

I would love to be Davu's postman. I could then join him for a morning coffee.

As Usual Starman is out of it.
United Kingdom
April Fool’s Day is on April 1st. It‘s the custom in the UK to play a trick or a joke on someone on this day. If the person falls for the joke then they are called an ‘April Fool’. In fact it’s only half a day because April Fool’s Day finishes at midday. No more jokes after lunchtime,
6:00 PM (18:00) Bangkok Time = 12:00 PM (12:00) London Time
I made the post well within the London time constraint.
Again you show your ignornace Starman.

Missed you, Toffo. Where have you been? Had a barney with your local bar owner?
Common knowledge that you need to get the fool before midday.

Urleft....you posted at past 10pm.
UK is 6 hours behind. Even you can work that out.
