Personally I wouldn't buy from the back of the trucks that go round, at least not the ones that visit our village.
I bought a couple of double beds from IQ warehouse ( Burriram) . They have a furniture store inside on the right. Upstairs is the more expensive stuff but the downstairs section has a good selection of middle of the range stuff at I thought reasonable prices. We got good solid wood frame doubles plus mattresses and bed sets thrown in for well under 10k baht each. They will discount of you push hard enough.

I wasn't the one who ask about it; but, thanks for the info; will check it out!

I was a salesrep in bedding for 5 years, my advice : the best combination especially in a warm country = a boxspring combined with a 5-zone pocketspring covered with 3 cm cold foam sg 55. Never use latex for a matras or latex covering in a hot country, it doesn't go well with sweat and we do loose up to half a litre a night in a country like Belgium so you can imagine what you loose in LOS. And I'm not talking about one's marital duties !!!
Also a matrass needs "maintenance" : just turn it over every month or so. And let it "breathe" without any covers during the day.

Thanks for that Croc - any specific brand recommendations in Thailand and/or places to buy from ?

Surprized you don't go by the handle of Lil Abner, Mattress tester:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Li%27l_Abner
Unfortunately couldn't find a ready pic, but he would stand at the foot of the mattress falling backwards onto it. He would be asleep half way down
