Paul ... I see that Lazada offer COD. That seems to be a very reasonable option.

Have you used COD ? If so, has there been any dramas upon delivery with the price quoted ?

I'm considering buying an 18,000 btu (5kw) aircon unit through Lazada, and their free delivery and COD offer looks good.

Cheers

No way I would buy something like an aircon online. But It's up to you of course.

Hi Dave ... I assume you mean installation ? A local team in Buriram that seems to have a tie with Daikin. He's given me a quote for a 5kw Daikin, supplied and installed by him. The quote seemed to be a bit pricey, so we asked him for a price to do installation only, with me supplying the A/C unit, even if it wasn't a Daikin.

He said "can do ... no problem."

Looking at Lazada prices, plus this guys installation only fee, I reckon I can reduce his "supply and fit" quote by 9000 baht.

I need to investigate this a bit more yet, as maybe I've misunderstood something in the 3 way translation process via my girlfriend ??

Nah ............ that's never happened before    :D

Close enough on installation. ::) We are looking at AC's for our new shop and I would check a few times to make sure that installation is included as that by itself could add another 3k to the cost. When you buy locally installation is included

Thanks Dave. Yes, that was the whole point of my Reply#4.

Maybe I can buy a Lazada unit, and get a local Buriram team to install it, for way cheaper than his quote to "SUPPLY & INSTALL"

Mike. Why would you not buy an A/C online ? I'm open to anybodys thoughts and experiences on this, as I've not committed one way or the other yet. ie ... buying online or instore

I too would be interested to know if you used the cod, as this seems a way to guarantee that your order turns up. I was looking at their Samsung tablets but thought what happens if I pay and it doesn't turn up.

I ordered a new computer monitor from Lazada (COD) which took three days to reach me and there was absolutely no problem whatsoever. You do need to make sure you have the exact amount of money for the delivery guys. I have read, on other forums, of people having problems but for my three previous purchases and the COD one Lazada is fine......

I have yet to see a "killer deal" on Lazada for the items I buy for my family. However everyday I have lower prices than what I see posted on Lazada for DeWALT, Stanley, Hitachi, Honda, Makita products. I can show you that I only sell genuine DeWALT Tools, genuine Hitachi Tools, genuine Stanley Tools, genuine Makita Tools, Honda Power Products and my store has twelve full time service department staff in Buriram to provide prompt in warranty free repairs and reasonably priced after the warranty repairs on these major brands. My repair staff has shown me broken "copy or counterfeit" Makita tools that a person bought through an on line third party seller. That made for an interesting conversation for the tool owner and the customer service of the on line retailer. Lazada has significant financial backing as reported in 2014 in Forbes Magazine. It might be a great source for a Samsung Tablet. Easy to verify if the Apple phone or Samsung Tablet is genuine as you can obtain verification at the iBeat Buriram Apple store or Samsung Store inside Taweekit Super Shopping Center on Jira Road. C.O.D. might seem prudent for Lazada and reading reviews of the third party seller is a must in my opinion.

"Despite its valuation, Lazada remains a relatively small business, generating about $59 million (47 million Euros) in net revenue for the first half of 2014, according to filings. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) for the period was negative $50 million (40 million Euros.) As of June, the company had 1.4 million active customers and was shifting away from owning and selling its own inventory toward providing a platform for third-party sellers. "

I just bought 2 Aircons (2 high end Daikin Inverters)

First shop ordered the ones I wanted, came to my House to install it and brought the wrong ones. Discussion back and forth, blaming me for giving them the wrong Model Number (Not as I showed him the Brochure when I ordered). He finally backed down and he said he can order but more money, I said No as the price agreed was exactly the price I could buy the Aircons myself (price excl. installation)

Second shop, same question same aircons same problem (ordered the wrong ones) and have prove (SMS / Email) that I asked for the right ones (this shop also tried to increase the price but only 200 THB each so IMO they just ordered the wrong one as the model I wanted is 2-3000 THB more expensive then the model they ordered ;) )

Third shop also started off with the wrong one, but I showed them the brochure (which I have both the Printed version and the Digital (PDF) version). When I ordered them, I paid him a deposit and he agreed that if he got the wrong ones he returned me the deposit, but finally got my aircons I wanted after 3 days (ordered on Monday and installed on Wednesday)

Oke, coming back to Lazada, do you think it would be easy to get the aircon you want if they deliver the wrong one ? Think of shipping costs, phone calls etc etc etc. I only had to drive from Surin to Buriram and made some phone calls. i wish you the best of luck, and I hope everything works out for you.

Again, No Way I am buying an Aircon Online (or even a TV or a Washing Machine etc) but will only buy online small electronic stuff like a power bank or a phone charger.

Hi Martin

I always pay COD........never had a problem.....Once you've ordered you see the copy of everything, don't forget to quote the special daily voucher number on the order form & the price gets even better.
                        Cheers Paul

I have to agree that buying larger items on line that also require an installation crew would be a bit risky. Just imagine the problems if something didn't work after installation. The supplier and the installer would be blaming each other and you would be in the middle with nothing.
I bought my air con in the morning from Home Pro who fitted it the same day and the price was good due to some offer they had on at the time.

And ......

Check the warranty for things like 'phones tablets and cameras.

Normally the warranty info is listed right at the top on the page of the item you are viewing.

Some items from other countries that Lazada list DO NOT have any warranty.

Agree with NB and others ..... good site for some COD items.

I was about to make a 2000+ baht order with Lazada, but there is a 117 baht "minimum order fee".  What is that about and how can we get around it?

I made a 200 baht order from Lazada a month ago, and there was no minimum order fee.

I got a response from Lazada, they said minimum order fees were based on:

In Metro areas - 39 THB order fee for orders below 299 99 THB
In Non-Metro areas - 39 THB fee for orders below 299 99 THB
Remote areas - 39 THB fee for orders below 1,999 99 THB
Imported Items - No shipping fees
For Watsons Official Store - 49 THB order fee for orders below 499 THB for all areas

Not sure how my 2000 baht order fits into that, or how did the arrive at 117 baht minimum.  Here is the email they sent:

Dear Valued Customer,

Warm greeting from LAZADA, Effortless shopping!

Thank you for trusting and shopping with us.

First and foremost, we would like to apologize for your inconvenience.

Looks like they multiplied 39 baht by 3 and got 117 baht.

Yes, figured out the issue that Lazada does not use the order total to develop the shipping costs, they do it by item.  So the had some good prices on wooden spoons, there was a 39 baht shipping fee with that item:

https://www.lazada.co.th/fofo-23-1115676.html?spm=a2o4l.customer.0.0.03mfH1 (https://www.lazada.co.th/fofo-23-1115676.html?spm=a2o4l.customer.0.0.03mfH1)

So there were three such items which is the 117 baht.  Easy fix was just to delete as I didn't need those anyway.

Strange, I have an item for ฿189.- on my wish list and there is the remark 'no delivery fee'. I seem to remember that the first time ordered, I was tols that a minimum order of ฿2000.- was required in order to avoid delivery fee, haven't seen that since. I also oreder two items in order to bring the total above  ฿2000.- and they were delivered separately, no delivery charge. maybe first time customer?

No, I've been using them pretty regularly.  This was the 1st time I saw additional charges which got me questioning the charge. So it was really 3 separate shipping charges.  The 2000 baht minimum did not apply.  As I said I just deleted those 3 items and the charges went away, no problem as I really didn't need them anyway.

I use Lazada quite a lot and to date have always been happy with product and service.

For those on Facebook - of late I have noticed more and more Thai businesses using Facebook as a selling platform. Much of it is gimmick/rubbish products but in amongst it are some real good deals. I've bought a number of what I call throw away tools from various wholesalers at incredibly low prices. Example, a Japanese made heavy duty 800 watt rotary hammer drill for 1,470 baht with attachments, interchanging chucks and hard case.
I get things like this as a nice/handy to have for occasional use. It won't stand up to regular and constant use I suspect but for the small DIY job it's perfect.
I also got a Japanese 30Litre air compressor, 9m hose and air gun set for 2,700. Again, it may not hold up under prolonged use but for the occasional nail/staple gun etc use its perfect and saves the scratching around to borrow or rent one.

Both these items were pay on delivery shipped through Kerry and to date both work fine.
