Hi,
I am looking for someone who can build me a Western Style kitchen
Any recommendations except RuangsangThai, Ice Furniture, Starmark / HomePro ?
Something like this
-
I am using a Thai Architect to design our kitchen, they also designed our house. Limited English but eventually I get my point across. PM with an email address and when I get the drawings I will share. We are not that different from the picture, except we are using a separate building with entertaining in mind.
I can also show you some pics of an American that got fantastic woodwork that I envy, and I am trying to get my TW to agree.
-
Hi,
Thanks, but 1 question.
Does he have the time to do it as that seems the problem with most of the builders nowadays ?
Thanks again and PM send.
-
iammike ... your proposed kitchen looks really nice. As you are starting from scratch with your design, may I offer something to consider.
It has bemused me that in the several homes that I have lived in in Buriram, the overhead kitchen cupboards have been totally useless, as my girlfriend is too short to reach them ... let alone put stuff in them.
She simply will not use the overhead cupboards.
Overhead cupboards look beaut, and are useful for tall farangs, but my 153cm tall lady cannot reach them.
As these cupboards are probably quite expensive, perhaps lower cupboards that can actually be used, may be more cost effective.
Anyway ... maybe a chat with your lady would be worthwhile. Get her opinion. Sometimes we tall farangs tend to overlook the obvious things in a country where everyone is short.
Good luck with your project.

Thanks Smooth2.
Funny you mention this, but this design was picked by my Missus on Google Image search. We had a kitchen like this in our Condo (Starmark) and in our house in Pattaya (Self Build) and on both of the Kitchens the missus was the major "designing" factor.
I once asked her the same question you raised, and she said "I have a Tall husband so you can you put the stuff there and grab it when needed ;)
We will start from scratch.

Have you checked IKEA, close to Suwarnaphmumi ? Search ikea Thailand on web. Have site where youself can plan Kitchen and wide range of different Components. Have also bathroom and wardrobe. Delived flat-packed, but if you dont like to "screw it all up", you can hire their People do it for you ;-)
-
Thanks for suggestion, but I forgot about Ikea the day I left Europe.
However It could be an alternative for us to install it as a Temp kitchen during the time we wait for our Real Kitchen and when that kitchen arrives donate it to my BIL ;)
-
Quality and design has improved during last years and I have only heard good responses from people With ikea Kitchen lately.
Same With wardrobes. :-)
-
Good start, no mentioning of Buriram in their delivery PDF, but they mention Chiang Mai ;)

@Olav, but thanks for the suggestion but I doubt it sincerly we will get a Ikea kitchen or Wardrobe or ....
Thanks again.

Locally I can only think of one you have not tried and thats ATB or Alan The Builder. He owns the Surin Farang Forum. His website and contact details are http://www.alanthebuilder.com He normally only builds 5M and above. He is doing one at the moment thats at least 15 M and I'm talking quality. He will very easly now who to put in contact with.
-
Thanks GL.
I had already thought about him as I was in contact with him when in the planning phase of our house, but I personally think that he is way too busy to do only a Kitchen for us.
I willl wait for Urlefts Email and see what that brings, and If everything else fails we will just get a Temp kitchen and wait for a builder who can build our Kitchen.

He won't do the kitchen but will know the TOP OPTIONS on who to contact. Contact him. He will be more than glade to help you if he can.

We used Kitzcho stuff. Built into concrete on the bottom, hanging from walls on the top. Straight forward DIY project, but make sure you have a helper. I snapped a couple pics this morning to show you, so the pics aren't great and the place is a mess. We're still finishing out the place and unpacking our shipment. I like the Kitzcho stuff enough that I've just ordered some "jigsaw" (stand alone) cabinets to build out my wet-bar.
For the upper cabinets, I set them a at 137 cm. 47 cm above the 90 cm counter top. TW (156 cm) can reach the lower two shelves and she has a folding step stool when she wants to go for the highest. She usually just asks me to get/put whatever on those.
-
Thanks KhunG,
But the problem is we don't like a (concrete) kitchen like that, if we did it wasn't a problem as there a couple of guys in the village who can build a kitchen like that.
Question, do you drawers and cupboards all have Soft Close ?
Thanks again for all comments / tips. But we will wait for Urlefts Email (PM already send) and if that doesn't work we get a Temp Kitchen.
-
The "jigsaw" system I'm doing the wet bar in is all wood if you don't like the concrete.
The upper cupboards, which are also used in the "jigsaw" system are soft close. The lower stuff built into the concrete isn't. I'll have to wait until my wet bar lower cupboards show up to see if they're soft close.
-
I used Kitzcho also. My kitchen was done by IQ Moderntrade. The cabinets and appliances were bought from them and their carpenters did the wood base and installation.

Your Kitchens look nice, but it's just not our style.
I know that these kind of Kitchens can go up fast and are not that expensive but again it's just not our style. If we had chosen such a kitchen I wouldn't have to post on the board as (I said before) a couple of guys (and my missus just told me even her Uncle) can build such a kitchen.
Thx again for all the comments / tips.

For what you want you probably will not find it out hear. You may find it in Pattaya , Bangkok or Chiang Mai and I have serious doubts on that. You can definitely find it in New York and London. This is Thailand and adaption has to be made or it will be a hard life. Wish you the best in your quest.

GL, sorry mate but you are wrong about that.
I have seen a lot of Kitchens like the one we want in Buriram / Surin, but the builders of those Kitchens are unfortunately too busy to build my Kitchen.
And please note, all the builders in my OP can build such a kitchen and these are companies located in Buriram / Surin.

In that case its pick a number and stand in line.

Yeah I lost almost 3 weeks with one builder (which came highly recommended) because he said he will come and look and never showed up and finally when pushed hard enough admitted that he didn't have the time to do it.
-
i have a name of a guy that has built many in Korat and did mine here in Nondindaeng, i can send you photos of mine if you like,,and give you his name and number

Mike you need to jump on this and keep your fingers crossed. I was going to say you have just about ruled out Buriram and Surin and need to go out of area. Korat, Khon Khan, Udon and Ubon are large metro areas and have large foreign population. Also SinCity and Bangkok. Look for local forms for these areas and you could post on ThaiVisa.
-
Thanks GL and Charles (ps: PM send)
This is an option we will definitely consider but we already got a couple (read 2) phone numbers and my missus is in contact with one of them and he will come to the house later this week.
She also contacted our Builder from Pattaya, he has family living not very far from where we are and he could do it, but the timeframe would be 1 month plus (but closer to 2).
He delivers absolute quality work but he is swamped, when I get my PC "shipped" in I will post some pictures of the work he did for us.
What I am noticing is that many (Thai) builders are afraid to take on new clients because that they are afraid of Non-Payment and they only are left with the Deposit. This happened to my (Pattaya) builder already a couple times and he now only takes on jobs of people he knows and who get recommendations from people he knows.

I am working to see if a 2nd Buriram custom kitchen builder will meets the design requirements, construction time table and budget of my valued customer Mike. The primary kitchen team I employ (and guarantee the workmanship) as sub contractors are booked solid this May and June. There is at least one other kitchen counter team that I have contacted for Mike and his wife. Attached are photos of the contractor who has done the most recent indoor Western kitchen counter, laundry area, and exterior Thai style kitchen counters for customers of Buriram Builders Merchants. I also recommend expats contact Ron of ICE furniture and I believe Mike is working with Ron on measurements for a walk in closet. Not every Buriram house builder wants wooden cabinet doors, not every expat desires a brick and concrete kitchen so I work with several experienced suppliers to give my customers valid choices in several price ranges. I certainly have met with salesmen of every major brand of kitchen cabinets sold in stores in Thailand including StarMark, Kitzcho, Diamond, King cabinets, and Kvik Kitchens. I do not import or sell any kitchen cabinets or Kitchen worktops from China. Mr. Pichai

In your original post you ask for recommendations for kitchen builders except Ice Furniture and others. I'm just curious ( or nosey) but was there any particular reason for this? We have recently had a kitchen made by Ice and were very happy with the quality, fit and service.
Looking at the picture of your desired kitchen, I would have thought that Ron and his team at Ice could produce a near enough identified copy.
Our kitchen is certainly not to everyone's personal taste but it's strong, has the soft close features and has been fitted extremely well. Happy to email you pics if your interested.
-
Hi,
Just wanted alternatives
Happy ?
I hope this satisfies your curiosity, but I doubt it ;)
-
Definitely a supporter of ICE Furniture here too. Great job, on time and as agreed
And they do furniture, curtains, wardrobes (fitted) as well
-
Wayne,
Thank you for posting and I think Ron will love your comment, but it's not very helpful in my search for an alternative to those in my OP.
If this turns into a A vs B or A is the best then this thread can be closed as I am not looking for that.
🙏

@iammike
Just came back from visiting a fellow Aussies house.
He is also looking for alternatives for a kitchen he has in mind.
So, just wondering if you got yours sorted out. And if so are you happy with it?
-
Hi,
Still not sorted out, I have some options but nothing final yet.
Sorry.
-
No dramas.
Same with this guy as you mentioned before ..... trying to tie someone down to do the job
Thanks.

Finally connected with guy, here is some of his work:
