Title: Buying Land.

Hi all, has anyone out there ever bought land without papers, the land im talking about is farming land in the middle of nowhere, with im told has no papers,  10 rai,  300,000 baht, g/f says its been in the same family for generations, and everybody buys land with no papers.        party3

There is a big scandal going on now with land offices providing false papers the 2nd buyers being screwed. 


No papers, I would not buy.

Urleft is correct,no papers,you never know who really owns it,or if you have a leg to stand on legally.Same as bikes and cars,no book,no buy.

Check who has been paying the land tax. If there is a long record of tax being paid then there should not be a problem. All unregistered land is earmarked for registration at some point. The name on the tax forms will be the owner. If you buy the land under some kind of contract then you can take over the tax payments.

I know this because my father in law is in that position.

JasonB, urleft, thats exactly what i said to g/f,  Steve, have you any idea what kind of contract this would involve, my thoughts on it are, there has never been any tax paid on the land.      bananadance

I agree 100% with the posters above, No Chanote, Don't touch it, you might be tempted because it's very cheap but you will regret it later on.
