Why wouldn't you just buy a house in Nang Rong for 750K and be done. Just go to a local bank and look at all the reposessons and you will see the price of property. There is currently a 3 bedroom house 1km from the PB Hotel for 700K
May be there's some crazy farang who wants to buy the raised rice paddy.
Good luck.

Well maybe Andy people want to build a house to their own design, and not buy something just because it's cheap.
Me and my wife had a house built 10 years ago,it cost 750,000 Baht,3 bedroom bungalow.
The money wasn't important,750,000 or 2,000,000,it was important that me and the wife got the house we wanted.

This plot not just can build one bungalow 3 bedroom house but can build 5-6 house for sale or can build resort or restaurant or if you build one house then you will have lots of space to make a big garden.

The point is Antonio - why would anybody buy a rice field in the middle of no where, when the going prce is probably a fraction of the asking price. I know we all have a choice, but don't you think a Thai would have bought it if it was such a good deal. I don't know any Thai who would sell some land to a farang unless if they think they have a sucker in there midst. Also I have also built a house in Thailand and I am a full Chartered Surveyor, so please don't try to think I am stupid. Ninety percent of farang houses I have seen aren't worth much and the designs have usually bee put together by the wife's uncle and built by her cousin who lives in a shack in a village.

Speaking from experience obviously.

Some pretty strong words there Andy...
-
Most of the houses I have seen that have been built with proper materials (Farang or otherwise) do seem to be pretty nice. As opposed to the shacks cobbled together with pieces of wood and corrugated iron. But then I am not a full Chartered Surveyor.

Why did you have a house built, why not go and buy a repossession from the bank like you suggested to other people.
QUOTE='why would anybody buy a rice field in the middle of nowhere'
Because they can.

just to add my tuppence worth after a good few months looking at land in built up residential areas and farm land around the lahansai area i found farmland to be going for approximately 80,000 baht per rai if no crops are on the land and far from the town and 1 rai around the hospital area to be 500,000 bht with nice outlooks and surroundings so my first impressions would be that the land is too expensive unless it had a reasonable property allready built on it ::)

Hope you all are doing fine,
I want to say something about farmingland. Good farmingland arround Nang Rong will do +/- 100.000 baht a Rai on this moment.
The main reason for this is that a lot farmers are looking for higher land. This cos of the floodings and that the land arround NangRong is higher.
For Example there is land for sale close to Korat for 65.000 a Rai, reason for selling is the flooding of the last 2 years.
Land inside a village/city will do a lot more, seen prices arround there for 1milj a Rai.
greetings
taken from the first link :) seems to be accurate for farm land outside Nangrong
-
we are talking about farmland and a good distance from Nangrong certainly not prime building land from what i can understand
