Last week the NFL champion Baltimore Ravens were invited to the White House, to honor the team for their winning of the Super Bowl.
Matt Birk their center, publicly declined stating he couldn't attend because Obama had recently said "God bless the Plan Parenthood organization", which does abortions and Birk is opposed to.
According to Pro Football Focus, hardly a left wing source, Obama actually said "thank you Planned Parenthood, God bless you and God bless America", quite different.
Our medias are not trustworthy, they each have an agenda to promote and will distort a person's statements to support their particular position. The integrity they the once had has been replaced by ratings, which equals money.
We should be exposing ourselves to a wide array of news sources and when we form an opinion, know that unless we have first hand knowledge of the particular issue, we may not have the facts right and therefor our opinion can not be strongly held. I think this would lead to more real discussions over the complex problems the world is facing.

Nothing new here, really.
For years, the rule of thumb has been to believe 50% of what you read, hear or see in the news; the issue is, which 50% to believe and which 50% is misquoted, misstated, misguided or misinterpreted.
In this case, if the guy doesn't want to attend for whatever reason - he is free to do just that. Am thinking he is fully aware of the 50/50 situation mentioned above - so, probably, he is just wanting some publicity.
