Has anyone imported a motorcycle or other vehicle? Will the value of the vehicle at the time be taxed or will it be exempt with the one time tax free Thai citizen returning home tax free program?
-
I'm not sure Dave, but definitely import in your Thai partners name, wether GF or wife.....
-
I would not even consider it..No chance..unless you have a shit pot full of stupid money

Well ok then, a mere 213% in taxes and import fees....guess that ends that idea. Thanks for the links, very informative.

and that is only if your 'pride and joy' isn't fancied by a corrupt Customs Official, then you would end up with the square root of F. all.

Corrupt Customs Officers .....What here in Thailand, I'm gobsmacked

I had a friend about 3 years ago, tried to bring in a 1982 308 Fararri, real value,80,000AU dollars, they claimed it though imports and said he could get it if he paid120,000AU dollars,he agreed, then they done a 360 turn on it and told him that the paper work was not right, and just took it,less then a year later it went though a "invite only" auction and sold for 12million Baht to a high up the chain official....

Yes corruption is rife, but I can warm to the law, they want to support manufacturing in local car assembly lines, for both cars and motorbikes

ALL the vehicles that get into that particular auction either come from drug dealers or customs impounded vehicles
