I am looking for a place with german speaking people, good german food and books?
-
Have you tried Frankfurt?
Just kidding. I can point to at least 3 houses in my village with Germans, of them I would only recommend 1 for social interaction.
Good luck to you as I am of little or no help.
-
I'm looking for a restaurant or bar.
-
Try 'Coffee Connection' the owner at the moment is from Germany, for more details look 'Bars and Restaurants'.
-
Coffee connection the food not so good and expensive. The owner seems not to be so friendly.
-
I don't know, i never go there.
-
Julio, How far are you from Surin?
-
About 20km
-
Don't try Paddys very unfriendly wherever you come from
-
Have never tried this place; don't know if it's good or bad; reported to be just north of Nang Rong.

Wolfgang makes German food & Pizzas....pretty expensive too

Julio, theres a place in Soi Cola (I think) in Surin, Nobby's or Norby's Bar/restaurant. Plenty of stock, wines, beers etc preserves and tinned goods. He makes good snichsnels (is that spelt right). Maybe someone on the forum can give you directions
-
Just Googled Norby.s. Tel: 0816224137/044518391, have a chat with him
-
Norby ownes the N&N restaurant in Surin. http://m.nnrestaurant.de.tl/

Once I'm back in Buriram after work the first place I would visit is Paddy's. Good for a chat and goodprices. Always latest updates if your interested in football or any kind of sports. Nice place, Brian and Mam very friendly. happybar
-
The greasy little man peering above his computer was everything but a friendly host to me and others who i speak toI didn't get a chance to meet Mam as only had one beer and left.
I think Buriram for the size of it is missing a truly international bar since the international bar closed all the other bars are just single country bars where the people just argue about soccer.

You must mean football? Soccer is only for American dudes, besides what do you expect to talk about in an Irish bar? I don't expect any owner to be a host when I'm out for a beer but to meet other customers for a chat.

The Irish Pub is so far the best. You can enjoy a drink nice and quiet compared to other places specially Coffee Connection.
-
Bamboo bar seems nice enough, nice friendly staff.
-
Coffee Connection closed now out of buisiness?

If you ever venture down to Prakhon Chai, try Dieter's. He has a bar and restaurant and is also a butcher so you can stock up on wurst etc. Really easy to find from Buriram -- follow the elephant's arse at the roundabout to Prakhon Chai. Straight through the first ( and only ) traffic lights, through the narrow main street and just where the road opens up to 4 lanes, there is a cross road. Turn right and Dieter's is about 100m on the left hand side. Look out for the very large concrete pig standing outside. He does close one day of the week ( monday I think but I'm not 100% sure ). His phone number is 0817092114 so you can call him first.
PS. Are you also known as Ueli or Julius ?
-
It is the second traffic lights from the Elephant's roundebout to Prakhon Chai, before the golden Buddha on the mountain is the first traffic light.

Dear Herbergier, if you read my post again, you will see that I write " at PRAKHON CHAI, go straight through the first ( and only ) traffic lights ". The traffic lights to which you refer are on the outskirts of Buriram.....

Is that the second one after Bamboo if you turn left at the first one or is it next to bus station close to Lotus? How far is it?

I wonder how some people manage to get their shoes and socks on !! :)
Just to help with Mick's directions:-
Leave Buriram on the 219 and travel for 44 km.
THEN you will come to the only set of traffic lights in Prakhonchai (at the intersection with 24 road). Go straight over for about 800 metres and turn right at what is the second crossroads, If you took the road straight ahead it opens up into 4 lanes. The right turn is angled slightly away from you and Dieter (and his concrete pig) are 100m on the left.
-
Had no problem finding Dieters in the past; but, have never found the place open.
So . . . really good idea to call first, especially if you're driving some distance. To repeat his phone number - 0817092114.
