Stupid I know, but what is OTOP selling? I never felt the need for buying an OTOP before, maybe I can get through life without one.

OTOP = One Tambon One Product

1       Changwat (Buriram Province)
23     Amphoe    (Districts in Buriram Province)
189   Tambon    (Sub Districts in Buriram Province)
2212  Muban      (Villages in Buriram Province)

National project started in 1999. Each Tambon was invited to select a typical local product, and the National Project would help promote and commercialize that product.

As there are 189 Tambons in Buriram Province, expect to see quite a diversity of stalls.

Not sure what the individual Tambons have selected as their "speciality"

Stupid is as stupid does davu, and whilst I am sure you are taking the mick I will go first:-

OTOP I believe was a Thaksin initiative and stands for One Tambon One Product which simplistically means that each area has a specialist product ie honey, woodcraft, silk or that rather delicious peanut crunch thing called kryasad (phonetic).

Thanks for posting this event. It is in my village (we are 4km) outside and I knew nothing about.

Think I may go along for dinner and take a look at Miss Thailand :-)

Plastic chairs could be a welcome option - I understand that the dinner and festivities are Kantok style i.e. sit on the floor.
