Title: 90 Day Reporting At Police Stations
Post by: ben on December 31, 2012, 11:30:34 PM
Does anyone know the status of this situation?  They were hoping to have it implemented before the end of 2012.

I believe you have always supposed to leave a copy of your current visa status at the local police station.

Many years ago in Buriram it was possible to do that.

There is a law, that many people do not follow, that we have to report to the local police station once a year. I found this out when I applied for a driving licence.

I would say that the OP wants to know if he can do his 90 day report at a cop shop instead of going to Kap Choeng Immigration..

Quite true Starman, but I think that this obligation is nulled when you've a yellow tabian baan ... I will have to check it out ... but all foreigners have indeed to report to the local policestation, it is a question off where abouts.

The answer to that is NO

Maybe my first sentence was misleading.

I was referring to the fact that it used to be possible to do a 90 day report at Buriram Police station, although that was about 14 years ago.

Nook : you can if the topboss of your policestation is a full colonel - they also serve as immigrationofficer - and he can update your statusd on the immigrationcomputer ... but the blokes from CC don't like it ... it make them feel obsolete and they might loose some teamoney ...

plus do they have a computer yet at CC!  :D :D

It has seemed like a not exactly transparent switch from the 'Jug shop'

I have to renew my re-entry permit for my Residents permit this week at CC. If no computer, they will not be able to do it, yet they told Got Lost that they were capable. We will see!

I doubt the Police Stations know this -or even know what they would have to do if a farang walked in.

I have to renew my Alien registration (yes I am an alien) every 5 years at Prakhonchai Police Station.  After coffee, friendly banter and open discussion of the charms of the female Policewomen, and the number of mia nois I have, we get down to business, with me telling them where and what to sign.

They do however seem to know that they have to collect 800bt from me!

"gotlost", you are correct.  FYI, my situation is possessing a non-immigrant 'B' visa and a work permit.  I will continue following up with my friends within the police force to find out the latest about this.  I will also follow up with immigration officers.  If anyone has suggestions of other reliable sources, please let me/us know.
