While I feel sorry for the guy as a person..... I am always glad when such forgery is caught out.  If the Immigration Service are alert, fewer people will try such forgery.... and dealing with Immigration  will be easier for the rest of us.  The more Immigration think we're all dishonest, the tougher they'll make it for us.

I do agree and do not condone wrongdoing but this guy was only trying to support his wife and kids in Surin FFS!

I know him and do not feel he is a dishonest rough type. He is actually well educated and i hope his sentance is a reasonable one as his 2 children are the most important people to consider.

He was only trying to support his wife and kids.  So are burglars and other criminals.

The passport is a vital document for all of us.  It must be above suspicion.

For all that, poor guy!

I would imagine he will be deported PNG, regardless of wife and kids. . Easy to set up again in neighbouring Cambodia - wife and kids can make regular soirees to Siem Reap!

Must be a bit of a dim wit if he thought he could get away with it forever.

Is anyone aware that the number and letters shown on the bottom of the passport, include date of birth?  If you are going to change the main date you have to change the sequence of numbers and letters at the bottom too!

For anybody really interested here is the full spec.....

The interesting thing is trying to calculate the check digit and if you change the year of the DOB from 46 to 56 then the check digit would most likely need to change too.
