Title: New Steak restaurant in Prakhonchai
Post by: Prakhonchai Nick on August 13, 2012, 03:09:38 PM
A new restaurant has opened on the "24" in Prakhonchai. Approx 1km on the left out of town on the Nang Rong road, just before the end of the dual carriageway.

Looks good as you pass and with a good location. it advertises itself as a Steak Restaurant.   ...(Name unknown)

Two friends have been over the past 2 days and have reported unfavourably.

Long delay in food being served. More than 1 hour in one case.   steamingMad

Steaks wafer thin, and cannot therefore be cooked to customers liking  (even though the question was not asked)

No french fries or other potato products available.

A basic green salad was served without even lettuce

If a restaurant is going to trade as a steak restaurant  they need to understand how to cook steak, appreciate the different cuts and know what to serve with it.. This place clearly does not  :(

The 2nd friend apparently left after 1 hour with his family, having eaten nothing!

One to avoid!   runningdog

With the first steak overcooked, it might not have been possible to distinguish between pork and beef, although I understand it was beef (?buffalo). The 2nd diner left I am told  after 1 hour, before the dish even arrived!

I regret that it won't. The basic product is poor and they cannot deliver a reasonsble. service level.

120 Baht for a 125 gram overcooked steak without a potato accompaniment is poor value. Even the Thais will soon recognise that. A 130 ml glass of red wine for 100 Baht does not add to the experience.

It is not difficult to produce half decent Thai steak without but the chef needs to understand the difference between medium rare and well done.

Actually, Jan's steak arrived just after the hour mark and was similar to mine - he described it as shoe leather. His wife and daughter's food had not arrived so they paid and left.

The restaurant might not be open enough hours to enable them to serve that many!
