Post by: urleft on June 19, 2012, 08:38:51 PM
well my mrs charin found me unconcious on the morning of april 25th. she called nookie bear and they got me transferred to icu at memorial hospital i was there for 6 days and they sent me home even with no feeling in my right side from the waist down 2days at home with no improvement at all. so i admitted myself to bangkok pattaya hospital.WHAT A DIFFERENCE WAS TREATED IN THEIR EMERGENCY ROOM AND THE DRS SOON GOT AN IDEA ABOUT MY CONDITION i was assigned a neurollogist specialist within the hour and admitted immediately.i was offered a discount card which last for 3 years effective immediately[saved 150000 baht on my treatment up to date. i had loads of tests[mri scans etc] andthe found i had a large absces in the middle of my right buttock. op was priced at 170000baht including 1 night in icu[with my discount card 135000baht] any way had the op with no complications started physio a few days later. i had no feelng in my right side anyway spent 16 days in bangkok pattaya hospital in total iwas attending physio there 5 days a eek which was expensive due to having an ambulance every time. the dr in charge was concerned about the cost and arranged for me to have a private pysio attend to me at home.ive had 8 sessions with him now and he is great. i.m now standing up unassisted 6 times every session yesterday he got to sit in a wheelchair unaided so today able to use my pc at last.my outlook is that i will eventually be able to walk again but maybe not have full use of my right foot [fingers crossed]i'm in good spirits and yesterday had a couple of beers in nees beer bar in the village with a couple of mates many thanks to all the good wishes from all bmsand i hope to make it back to secrets in the not toofar distant future

Being a newbie, I am just catching up on some of these posts.  Apparently a lot of trauma in Thailand, I expect due to motorcycle TCs.  My question for this thread....I read a lot about travel from Buriram to BKK.  I took the bus last time and driver fell asleep nearly killing us all.  (word to wise, dont take the night time bus)  Do you find that air travel is convenient from Buriram to BKK enroute to Pataya?  Thanks for any replies.

There is a direct non stop bus service from Bangkok-Buriram/Buriram-Bangkok.
Day or night great service and very professional drivers, for this part of the world anyway.

I have flown Nok Air to Don Muang twice (I have a report on this from a Nok Air thread on this forum), would do so again, but if I wanted to get to Pattaya, I would probably take the bus.

Of course the train is an option, but I doubt I will use it again, I like AC and the train (both to/from Bangkok) was marginal last time I took it.

There is also an option to rent a van/car.  I got a van driver (from Buriram) that takes us to BKK for 5000 baht.  Last time I used him he picked up my TG (and 9 other Thais that wanted the adventure) and picked me up at 2300 at BKK, then drove back.  We also rode with him all night to the floating market once.  PM me if you want his phone #.

One of those Grey Vans you see on the road all the time, here is a picture of the specific Van I am talking about:

I also have a number of another Van which had 2 captains, probably seats 8.  Have not tried that one yet.
