There was a thread a couple of years ago, but I wanted to see if anything had changed.
Yesterday, I had a loaf from Makro called Seedcereal French, which was at least crusty, but not much like French bread otherwise. Big C and Makro's ordinary French bread is rubbish. Any better French bread anywhere?
For "general purpose" bread, I haven't found anything better than Makro's Wholewheat Opentop loaf; when they get it right, it can be very nice, but unfortunately they don't always... either not kneaded enough, or baked too long.

Agree. we use the open-top at Coffee Corner, toasts up well and makes a reasonable sandwich. I had some fantastic crispy rolls from Richard the baker in Lahansai.
Most of what we use at Coffee Corner is baguettes from Siem Reap - beautiful French stye. Perhaps you need to join one of our tours IB ! wave1

I used to like big-c bread, the brown bread is very nice and they do it in their inside bakery every day.
If you catch big-c/makro in the morning time its the best.
The price is also good.
The Taweekit swiss/german bread is also good but I found it dry and not fresh too many times.
