Sometimes the clients does not want all and everybody to know the cost of there house ,are you talking about the house in Buriram sir ?

then, you mean that a standard design, each customer chooses the changes, and it s for this you know that the price at the end?
When i try to contact you for an estimate, i means about build with a plan, not standard.

Ok this is how we work, once we have a plan we then put together a price with a full list of materials and spec and a payment schedule . Once the client is happy with all of these things we start the build, however most of our clients add things to the house like fitted kitchens \garden walls\even extra rooms \air-cons \garage \ and so on so the price may change as the job progresses. So normally I don’t put the price on forums until the end ,that’s if the clients gives me the ok after all this is their house .

this house is your usual high quality build. I do like the loose gravel infill border it looks very smart and contemporary. My compliments on the timber finish also.

Thanks that was the clients idea ,I think he had the same back home years ago .Also I put expansion joints on the sand wash footpath to hopefully reduce cracking !

if losing customers it's good for them, imagine what can interest to me. But this is a forum, and right to inform all users, all the impressions, not only the positive ones.

A customer is never a customer until the first payment is made, I get about 1 to 5 Emails a day 90% of then are time wasters(price searchers) and so on ,some just after a free tip I don't mind that , but how can I tell ,also a few end up in my spam box ,I do check them but I might miss the odd spammer !

I understand that you are very busy and you receive many emails, but after a first contact and after having sent the plan, i do not have got your answer. Here is my disappointment.
And sorry, but if the mail will only handle a problem, let me have some doubts about the management of resources and timing of delivery of houses.

For you maybe, but some people want to be sure of quality and don't want to take the risk of getting inferior quality, and are willing to pay a little extra for a constructer they know the work from.

Usually, you get what what you pay for.
With Alan the Builder I imagine you will pay a little more for his expertise/supervision and quality of materials. For sure a house can be built cheaper but many of us have experience of working with Thai builders and there are some horror stories out there.
Doesn't make it wrong to use a Thai contractor and I will probably do the same next year - mainly because I want a single-storey structure under 160 m3 . If I do, I will need to have a clear idea of my plans and find someone who has built something very similar to an acceptable standard.
Nearer the time I may lose my bottle and get a quote from Alan ! ;D

You're absolutely right, Im not saying beceause someone is expensive he delivers good work, but normally when someone is extremely cheap hes deliver cheap, the difference must be made somewhere, but there must be builders that are cheaper and have the same quality, but also more expensive ones that have less. Always ask a builder to visit some former buildingsights and try to have contact with the owners, if the contractor wont let you you know enough.

This is why Alan is quite brave to post videos etc on internet forums. Yes, it is advertising but he is also laying himself open to all sorts of smart-arse comments from would-be builders.
I speak as I find and I have found Alan very helpful in answering general building questions.
Again, it is fortunate that we have choices we can make.

If I may thrown in my two cents on this.
Having had 30 years experience in the construction trade in America before retiring to Thailand, I compliment Alan for his videos as it allows my experienced eye to look for specific things of interest such as installation technique.
However, other more important points have been made such as contacting previous customers, visiting other jobs and so forth. The cheapest price isn't a good way to get the best job.
And Lamui, if not getting an answer to your question was the "deal-breaker" for you, I found Alan's phone number in no time at all. Did you think an email was the only way to contact him?
