Many of you are living a very long time in Thailand and Isaan particularly, I would like to hear your opinion on this topic. icon_heart
Is Buriram the best place to live in Isaan?
If so, Why do you think its the best place?
What Buriram have that other Isaan cities does not have?
Or is it all Isaan cities are almost identical??! scatter
What do you think? bigok

I dont see Udon Thani on the list!!
-
BURIRAM is by far the best place to live in THAILAND
best people, best football ,best looking women, just all round best place there is.
-
I have to agree best looking women are in Buriram & Surin areas
-
I've had some good nights up in Udon!!!

Wheres Udon Thani? for me it has more to offer than Buriram but then I will admit to being biased seeing as my daughter and grandchildren live there.
I also have a son in Sakon Nakhon but Udon beats Sakon Nakhon by a mile .....at least it used to.
It's really a personal choice what suits one person will not another.
Whilst Udon Thani would or rather would have been my number one choice over the last 8 or 10 years there have been too many farangs moving there and taking what seems like a bit of Pattaya with them (not that I have anything against Pattaya I like it, I just dont want to live there).
My second choice would be Khon Kaen followed by Chiang Rai and Bangkok or possibly somewhere south of Pattaya maybe along the coast east of Sattahip.
EDIT; I have just noticed Udon has now been added

Buriram is the best place in Thailand.
A fantastic province with amazing people, and extremely beautiful Lady's.
Nice's Khmer temples in Thailand. 3famous monks known allaround Thailand, is also from buriram.
When you live here you have Chance to learn Thai Lao and Khmer. Buriram is amazing, when it come to the football, the words who Will describe how fantastic pea and fc is, do stil not exist.
Buriram is the place.

I haven't travelled widely in Thailand, But I've lived in Nongki for 2 years and wouldn't want to live anywhere else.....
-
I toured Isaan area over the years and it seems to be that Buriram is a good place if you just want a quite life however a more active place/city for me would be Khon Kaen.
Big shopping mall, lots of good restaurants, Nightlife, big expats community and on the health side, there are very good hospitals there so you don't need to travel so far for a good medical treatment.
-
Based on brief visits to many of those, I'd pick Nakon Panom for the small town, and Korat as the city.

yust a question?
When you live in Buriram, but like a nother place better, why you not move over there?
You all come many 1000 km to Thailand, but not the place in Thailand you like the best. I not understand?
And not use The excuse your wife not want to move, that's the last problem.

Strange question, I think for most that's the first problem, and a normal one, if you take your Thai wife to your homecountry you probably want to live anewhere near your family and not where she decides to live? :-X

strange answer party13
Did your Thai wife bring you to Thailand?
No i speak for myself. I am married with my Thai wife. I get all the money we need here. I love it in Buriram, more than any other place. But if I like a nother place better. I or we would move there. If she don't want, up to her.
I travel 9000km to Thailand and I love it here in Buriram.
If I travel 1000 km to stay in a place just OK, when I really want to stay some other place. I would look myself in the mirror and ask what am I doing. Easy thinking.
If I get tired of buriram I will leave. I'm not in prison here.

Sorry, I wasn't aware you were in a relationship with yourself, all apologies.

Fair question "why do I live in Buriram when I like another place better"
Simply because the lady I am with at the moment comes from Buriram and she wanted to be near her family, though that is changing so we could quite possibly be moving in the near future.
I've had quite a few long time relationships even married a couple during my time in Thailand so lets just say it really doesn't matter to me where I am as long as "her indoors" and my children are happy,
I'm very easy to please a few beers some good food a nice woman to cuddle up to when I go to sleep and I'm a happy ......what ever you want to call me.

Panom Rung is the spot 100%
We even got ATM's now!!
-
Khonburi a little pearl in Isaan

How do you define "best place"? I don't know if Buriram is the best place. There may be better places (Korat is not one of them) like Surin or Ubon. The trouble is, by the time you find out what actually is the best place, you have spent a lot of money and time, and at any time, something you had not foreseen, like a flood or drought, changes everything. Am I happy where I live now? Damn right... so far. Ask me again when something important changes.

You bring up a good point.
My name is Dennis, I'm American and read the forum pretty religously because I'll be relocating in about 2 years.
Are there areas to stay away from due to recent flooding. What areas did and did not have bad flooding?
Thanks
-
Hello Dennis,I'm pretty sure your lady will have a big say as to where you will eventually settle!!
-
We've agreed to anywhere within 1 1/2 hour drive of Buriram. Or at least I've agreed to that!
