I know I shouldn't disagree with the ORACLE, but I think McLaren will do well with Forest.

Championship looks extra tough this season, how about predictions for the top 3?

Mine would be:-

1 West Ham
2 Nottingham Forest
3 Middlesborough

But it is tough, tough, tough......

I'll hang fire with my predictions until i know who is playing for who. Cardiff only have 12 players at the moment. Hope to see some rapid transfer activity.

What is the oracles prediction for the sky blues?

Always has been one of the toughest divisions. Easy to get into but a bugger to get out of, unless through the trap door.

So many "big" teams down there. Usually the 3 teams going down from the  prem would be amongst the favourites to get promotion but this year I think they will all lose too many players and will struggle.

As Garytaffy said to early for predictions. Need to see who is where.

The usual suspect will be there though:- Forest, Cardiff, Leeds.

Ipswich are due a good year. Good manager there. Binnsy?????

Anyway I'm off to look at League 2. See you guys in 2 years.

They need a goal scorer with King going to Brum.............I reckon about 8th after taking maximums off both Forest & Cardiff!!

Hi Adam, thought i wouldn't clog up the shout box for our non footballing friends. Bellamy is still a Man City player who was on a seasons loan to Cardiff they paid £50K of his weekly wage and we paid the other £30k. He has expressed he only wants to play for Cardiff or Man City.......the latter making it obvious he was surplus to requirements. He is a Cardiff lad and his family lives locally. He is currently on holiday now but Malky Mackay will be speaking to both Man City and the player imminently to see if we can bring him back to the Cardiff City stadium.  redman

Haha, all good Gary, just a bit of banter, you know that.

So what's the deal with Cardiff? No money or what, are they likely to go tits up?

Any players likely to go to the Prem this season? Bothroyd?
Title: Re: Football - The Championship
Post by: garytaffy on June 20, 2011, 03:12:51 AM
Hi Adam, hey no offence taken as i could "talk  sport" till the cows come home....or should i say with my Thai connections ....the water buffalo!!!!!!

Since our Malaysian billionaire owners took over about a year ago from the dreaded Peter Ridsdale we have been in the money for the first time in living memory.Guess Man City have too much money if they wanted to subsidise Bellamy's wages as they didn't want to loan him out to any Premier league side.....If memory serves me right Everton,Fulham,Spurs, Sunderland and your goodselves wanted him.

I believe he will be back at Cardiff but not as a loan player.......but football is so unpredictable we'll have to wait and see.

Bothroyd is out of contract and has left the club. He was very good up until his cameo appearance for England against France.....then his form dipped and many a time appeared to be going through the motions.Koumas   who we were paying premier league wages to has returned to Wigan. He was a shadow of the player he was in an earlier stint with us. Olofinjana has returned to Hull where he was on Premier league wages resulting from their brief stint there. Unfortunately too many of our players appeared to give the impression that they could turn up and just take 3 points without really putting a shift in!! Chopra had a bad season in comparison to others with us.

As long as we can rely on the charitable deeds of Nookies lot and hopefully a good few more the good ship " Bluebird" should sail in the top half of the table at least.  thumbup

hi aficionados, slowly but surely the Bluebirds are starting to add new faces under our new boss Malky Mackay. Earnie has returned "home" a 20 goal a season striker at our level. Sad to see him go CC? i see you let his contract wind down. Less familiar faces include: Don Cowie ( Watford) Colin Conway ( Dundee Utd ) both Scottish Internationals and Andrew Taylor ( Boro ) all signed as free agents.
Sounds like we are in poll position to sign Goodwillie ( Dundee Utd ) for £2m subject to whether he get charged with an alleged rape/assault.....verdict to be known by 10th. Rangers want him but can't afford the price tag.

Mackay also raided Watford for his backroom staff which is usually the case. Still waiting to hear the verdict on Bellamy with Stoke and Celtic in the running....but the bookies on the radio today thought he would return to Cardiff with money not being his main motivator......time will tell.

I thought it was a joke but apparently an Icelandic international from Nookie's lot keeps being mentioned!!!! I'll have to remind the manager that his brief of getting us out of the championship means in an UPWARD direction!!!

Dream on Binnsy  !!  :D

I doubt they will make the top 6 (unless they have a storming start - and they don't usually).

Squad is too small, not enough experience and there are a lot of good teams this year.

Brighton and Southampton will beat a few teams and West Ham and Birmingham must be 2 of the strongest relegated teams.

Reading and Cardiff will be contenders and I take Forest to finish above Town (at least a large bottle of Leo says they will swordfight ).

A lot of good teams? Is this some kind of delusional belief amongst a lot of big time failures from the past,do it on the pitch and you get to the premiership.

A lot of average teams with mediocre players is more accurate imo.

It's not a good start - that's for sure.

I thought McClaren would be OK at this level and I thought Reid, Greening and Derbyshire were reasonable signings.

Something is not right and losing 5 - 1 at Burnley is an embarrassment.

To be fair, Billy Davies had run out of steam - not quite making it season after season`. It now looks like any foundation he might have built is non-existent.

Scouser and the Memory man

A scouser is on holiday in Arizona USA. He's staying in a remote frontier type town and walks into a bar .

He orders his drink and sits down at the bar when he notices a native American Indian, dressed in full regalia, feathered head dress, tomahawk, spear, the lot, sitting in the corner under a sign saying 'Ask me anything'

The scouser is intrigued and asks the barman about him.

'Oh, we call him the memory man, He knows everything.' says the barman.

'What do you mean he knows everything?' asks the scouser.

'Well, he knows every fact there is to know and he never, ever forgets anything'

'Yeah right' says the scouser.

'If you don't believe me, try him out. Ask him anything, and he'll know the answer'

'Alright' says the Scouser and walks up to the Memory Man.

'Where am I from ?'

'Knotty Ash, Liverpool , England ' says the Red Indian. And he was right.

'Alright' says the scouser, 'that was easy you probably recognised my accent. Who won the 1965 FA Cup Final?'

' Liverpool ' says the memory man quick as a flash.

'Yes and who did they play?'

'Leeds United' again without blinking

'And the score?'

'2-1' says the memory man without hesitation.

'Pretty good, but I bet you don't know who scored the winning goal?'

'Ian St John' says the Indian in an instant.

Flabbergasted the tourist continues on his holiday and on his return to Birkenhead tells all and sundry about the amazing Memory Man. He just can't get him out of his mind and so he vows to return and find him again and pay him his due respect .

He saves his dole money for years and finally twelve years later he has saved enough and returns to the states in search of the memory man.

He searches high and low for him. And after two weeks of trying virtually every bar and town in Arizona he finds him sitting in a cave in the mountains, older, greyer and more wrinkled than before but still resplendent in his warpaint and full regalia.

The scouser, duly humbled approaches him and decides to greet him in the traditional manner..

'How'.

The memory man squints at the scouser.

'Flying header in the six yard box.'
