Hey guys I’m heading over to Burriram with my friends and my son in a few days.. Cut to the chase where is the best farang food to be found?

I did call in at the Irish ber once and I thought it was very nice indeed,I never eat just a couple of beers .I wish Surin had a real pub like that !

There both very good mate ...
Ryans is more family ...pool ,pool table ,garden .. I normally call in at Staffs to pick up my pies on Sunday ..and it would be rude not to stop for dinner ..

Here in Buriram we are blessed with having the Buriram Pieman around. His pies,amongst other things, are fantastic.

The talk is all about farang-food' but Thai food is best eaten in a Thai restaurant IMHO, and I think there are many good Thai restaurants. One of my favorites is a place of which I don't know the name but it's opposite the side-entrance of the Pittyaschool, a few doors of the Mitsubishi showroom. (face showroom then to the left). hungry1

The owner looks Chinese origin, so I think yes, but it's a Thai-food restaurant.

I accept the main thread is Western Food, but this is a sub-thread, asking about food generally. I happen to know Alan the Builder is quite partial to non Western food, but there is no genreal thread to post under.
Would be nice to have an Indian in Buriram!

It is not a sub thread, it is a topic.
I imagine AtB was referencing Western food when he spoke of 'staffs'.

Thai food I like the Northern deco place opposite the small Tweeket ,serves great Khow Soi .. Curry with fried noodles and chicken leg ..Very very good !!!

I was just joking, i explaned what the sticker was for, there were nice houses on it by the way, so yes, you spammed me. We eat there a few mornings every week after taking the kids to school, the food is indeed great there. hungry1

Khow Soi? Is that the Changmai food? IMost of the time I eat Khao Tom there, I like (rice)soup in the morning, but every other dish I tried there so far tastes great.

Well we tried Paddys out.
Nice bar, well fitted out. Here is the food pics. Danny said the mixed grill was nice, and so was my Pie, one of Gary Staffords. Great place for a beer after work.

Having read this thread & others I have to ask why do you constantly plug Staffords from Prasat,,,,,,I've eaten there a couple of times ,food always good but somewhat overpriced IMO

I'll have to go into Makro and have a look Nick. A crumble made with blackcurrents alone are likely to be more expensive than an apple and blackcurrent.

It seems rather strange to go to an Irish Bar & choose to eat one of your friends pies rather than push the boat out & try something like his Irish Stew,,,,which is very good!

Starman maybe you should arrange a pie tasting and size comparison at a venue of your choice.

Size comparison has already been done. My pies are, on average, 15% bigger. Also judging by a wabsite I have seen my pies are 25 baht cheaper.
Taste comparision? Good idea. I will work on a time and place.

I wanted to stock both pies but I couldn't afford to buy Staffords at Gary's prices.
Absolutely nothing against Gary, he established the first retail/wholesale presence and works to his margins.
I buy 'flakey' pies from Pattaya for the very few people who prefer that style to Steve's.
Food, as always, is a personal choice and at least in Buriram we have a reasonable choice now.

Real mushy peas from Nookie (better than those I had bought in Pattaya inc proprietory brands).
Would never use 'real' chips (if you mean making from potatoes) because the basic product is not good enough and certainly not consistent.
Makro crinkle chips are a winner with my customers. I have tried frozen steak chips to give the choice but 90%+ opt for crinkle cut.

I had perfect real chips today in Gary Staffs (made from potatoes ) I eat them at home all the time ...Big chunky fat perfectly cooked chips .

Just to keep this on topic, here is another Nice Pie i had at the Bamboo bar, I am led to believe it is from Bangkok Pies.
That must be why you like them then, as I am led to believe that Stafford's pies come from Bangkok too.

That's almost as many as we make. I must go over and look at his production line. I have looked around his place a couple of times. Really can't see how he has enough room to make and store that many.

I can recommend on the 'Muang Pizza' or 'Book & Bed' as good places for Beef steak as well. sawadi

Looks like a amazing meal and at prices that are easy on the pocket.
However i prefer to live in other parts of Thailand so i will miss out on such a wonderful offer.

Alan it is a piece of cake (or pizza!) - even Dave the Dude could find it.
The Buriram Expats map on here is very good and the old Muang Pizza place used to be on Harnchana Road opposite the BE premises and Book & Bed. It is now a bit further down that soi.
From the elephant roundabout head for town and at the next roundabout turn left towards Big C and Makro. Go to the lights and turn right I think Harnchana Road is second on the left after about 200 metres or so. Then about 200 metres down there on your left.
Restaurant & Resort.
Opening hours: 10:00am – 22:00pm
This place is run by a nice guy from Netherlands/Holland name Siebe.
This place serve Pizza,Italian food, Steaks and some Thai food dishes in the menu.
Here you can buy fresh bread and cakes made in place everyday!
Take away is available as well.
Address: 514/10-11 Harnchana Road, Tambong Nai Mueang Buriram.
Directions: Located on the same road as ‘Buriram Expats’ place down the road nearby Vong Thong

A blind man was seen waiting at a street corner with his guide dog. After a short wait the dog started leading the blind man across the street against the red light.
First a car comes screeching to a halt inches away from him, but still the dog leads on, then a bicyclist almost wipes them out and curses as he goes by. Finally in the last lane a truck swerves and barely misses them.
After they reach the far corner the blind man reaches in his pocket and pulls out a cookie and offers it to the guide dog. At this point another person who has watched the entire episode interrupts asking why he was rewarding the dog after the dog had endangered his life and almost got him run over by a car, bicycle and truck.
The blind man responded: "I'm not rewarding him, I'm just trying to find out which end is his head so I can kick him in the ass."
