My time has come, I'm scheduled to move to Buriram in October. bananadance
I have a business, through my Thai Girl, but running an internet shop is not that difficult (I about have a masters in Software Engineering). newsleeping
I have some immediate projects that need to be done, but what do I do after that? punk
My current plans/Goals include:
- Get back in shape/condition, want to get back to 30 minute runs. runningdog
- Do not be a drunk night after night party9
- take up fishing, where can I catch snakehead? character3
- Avoid the Hassal factor - do not start something that takes most of your time and requires more effort than you want to put in. jumping8
- once a quarter, travel somewhere and have fun rolleyesbar
- learn Thai, both spoken and written party13
I am also thinking of attending Bangkok University for an MBA or Doctorate. Wish there was a campus in Buriram. buriramsmiley
Bottom Line, what can Farangs do in Buriram to keep them occupied instead of becoming permanent drunks? pray1

You have the right attitude and so did I, when I first got here.
Keeping fit is important and meeting GOOD friends helps too.
Keep it simple and legal.
Keep busy

You may want to check out Ramkamheng University. It has a campus in Buriram, on the road out to Huairat. It accepts foreign students and does some courses in English.
All you need to do is to supply certified copies of certificates resulting from previous education and go an apply for a placement.

It hasn't, Nick but we all have great intentions to start with and then many ideals fall by the wayside, especially exercise.

I really can't see the issue - a little discipline as all that is required to make the effort.

The alcohol trap is a very slippery road that has caught many expats in Thailand. party5
Think about it, retired,no job to do around, its getting boring after awhile... smilenod
If you will be looking for friends the meeting places are most always in the Bars where obviously 99% of the people are drinking alcohol.
Would you be the only person in the place not drinking? party4
Of course you can be but the boredom and the tempt will be too big to avoid consuming alcohol over the time.
I suggest finding something to do, some drive to wake up in the morning. oldmanwithstick
Exercise is a good idea but not enough IMHO.
