Hello Group,
I have not written on here for ages but something has got me well pissed off and I would like to make a statement of fact, that when I'm back in Thailand the shit will hit the fan.
My father in-law was at a Songkran party a few weeks ago and whilst being pretty drunk gave a woman a hug ( and that was all he did). Before you all start saying it is not the done thing in Thailand DON'T this is a Farang/Thai thing not a Thai/Thai thing.
When she found out that he had a Farang son in-law she wanted 20,000 bht or she would press assault charges.
So my mother in-law called my wife here in the UK to ask for the money, my wife told them that we did not have it as things are tight for us at the moment. Then true to this womans word she pressed charges and my father in-law is now eating fucking red rice for six months.
As things are financially tight for me in the UK at the moment he has been the main bread winner for the family and now he is in jail the whole family is suffering for the greed of some bitch who won't know what hit her when I come back.
I am very very angry and this will never be forgotten.

Well sorry to hear about your father-in-law, and it never fails to amaze me the things done for money! Hope f-i-l gets out soon, and be careful in dealings with her or you could be in same boat, she must have had some witnesses to back her up!

Yes, as much as I can umderstand your anger and frustration, tread carefully with this woman. A Farang can get into troublefar more quickly than a Thai.
Remember - revenge is a dish best served cold.

Very well put Ray,,,,,,
I would suggest it may have been a little more than 'just a hug'

I am suspicious about 6 months confinement for a hug, seems excessive :-\. Think there is more to this story.

Sound advice and I would add, First make sure you know all the facts 100% as many, many things get lost in translation. Secondly, do not risk any actions yourself, the farang is always wrong here and we know nothing. Money cant buy love, but it sure can get other things done.
Good luck JT

To all the guys that gave advice and were concerned, I think I better let you know what has happened.
Basically we paid up after I had calmed down. Because the help I thought I could get ( The Mayor ) was related to the woman who accused my father inlaw of groping her, so we settled on a sum of about £100.
And he stayed out of jail. You guys were right about getting the facts straight first aswell the story changed about three times in one week!!!
But what a f@%king headache, and I don't think that I'll do anything when I get back now, maybe just the cold shoulder to the women.
Cheers
Jon

Good that you got it sorted eventually. It seems you have calmed down about it as well - that will help when you back.
A cold shoulder and an icy stare is the best retaliation in the long run :)

Dead set mate,
Done it before when people in the village have crossed me or not paid a debt, it's a good tool.
