Thailand: Temple incense smoke hazardous to health
source: Associated Press
Thailand's health ministry says the clouds of aromatic smoke that waft through Buddhist temples are potentially hazardous to your health and has issued new guidelines for incense burning.
Health Minister Jurin Laksanawisit said in a statement Thursday that the smoke emitted from incense commonly used at temples contain unsafe levels of benzene, butadiene and benzopyrene.
The statement said the chemicals could cause leukemia and lung, skin and bladder cancers.
The ministry is recommending that temples avoid lighting the joss sticks in poorly ventilated places. It also suggests that temple staff wash hands and faces after handling joss sticks and have annual medical checkups.

Problem is, just living is a health hazard. There are far too many people telling us not to do this and that because it will damage our health.
One man's hazard is another man's stimulus. Like MSG....
