Yes I've seen 13 but the ending spoilt it for me ,the original French version was supposed to be a much better film .Jason Statham is a good British actor and I found The Mechanic a watchable movie as well as The Transporter Trilogy.
The town was another good movie i have watched lately as well as The Fighters , a boxing film with a Rocky ending ;D

One of the worst films I have watched this year,I can now understand why IMDb only gave it 3.9/10 and I should have gone with my original gut feeling and not bothered,I can only think David recommended this movie as a joke .It was a mediocre British low budget gangster style film that would only appeal to the dim-witted ,poor story line ( Low budget "Taken" )filled with has-been TV actors. The story-line seemed unbelievable with gratuitous violence and a theme that would be more suited to a crowd of National Front Supporters than an avid film viewer like myself. My suggestion is don't waste your time watching this garbage and if you haven't seen 'Taken' ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0936501/ (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0936501/) ) watch that movie instead.
Thanks David,nice one nono
I'm sure The Social Network will be worth a watch though smilenod

After finding out my copy of The Social Network was a dud I took GarryTaffy's advice and watched Drive Angry 3D
This movie was about a vengeful father escaping from hell and chasing after the men who killed his daughter and kidnapped his granddaughter.Loads of car chases ,car crashes with a few nudes and funny lines thrown in for good measure. This movie is like a cross between Ghost Rider and Machete and if either of those films appealed to you then this movie is for you. The 3D FX are supposed to be as good as Avatars but by me watching the film on my computer it didn't do the visual FX any justice and I would recommend a theatre viewing for the Nic Cage fans .Amber Heard ( icon_heart ) who plays Nic's side kick adds to the eye candy and Nic Cage and William Fichtner (who plays the anti hero) do their best to imitate The Terminator by not dying which all adds to the fun.At one point in the film Nic Cage ( Milton ) manages to kill about 8-10 bad guys whilst still making love to a waitress he has pulled in a bar and it doesn't even slip out thumbup One to watch on an evening with a few beers with you mates.....8/10

More like Barry Humphries! :D
I have just watched 'The Next Three Days' with Russell Crowe and thought it was quite good. He is a quiet calculating husband who is trying to avenge/put right wrong-doings to his wife. She has been falsely imprisoned for murder.

The Social Network is definetly worth seeing even though it sounds like a bit of a boring subject matter. It won so many awards, they cannot all be wrong.

As nobody is coming up with any good suggestions , I found a 2009 film I had missed called "The Tournament" ........http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Tournament_(film) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Tournament_(film))
The Tournament - a deadly game played out every 7 years, where the world's richest people put 30 of the world's deadliest assassins in an out of the way exotic town, and bet on who will be the last man (or woman) standing. This time is Middlesbrough. :D The Tournament is one of those fun trashy movies that hits the action spot very nicely, the movie has a subplot where Joshua Harlow wife ( Ving Rhames's,Marsellus Wallace from Pulp Fiction ) has been killed, and he's there for revenge. So what now follows is a Battle Royal kill fest, and boy do we have some brutal and bloody kills, the film makers were smart to even throw in some nudity...and hey presto we have another trashy exploitation movie, but this one kinda rocks, it will remind you of other movies you have seen...like Battle Royal, The Running Man, and even Gamer, so don't expect anything original but there are some nice set pieces, blood gets splattered all over the place and oh... did i even mention that there is some nudity and pole dancing thumbup
Also stars Robert Carlyle as a Alcoholic Priest that gets caught up in all the action by accident and Kelly Hu ( icon_heart ) plays the hot Asian female assassin.
The next movie I will be reviewing is The Season of the Witch, another film with Nicolas Cage thumbup

just been to see " unknown" which was watchable. next week i will see " the Eagle" a roman Britain action film.
I watched The Eagle a while back when it was a sponsor for UFC 125. The copy I had was poor( people walking past the screen ::)) but I felt the movie was lacking.Nobody looked Roman ,the hero has a terrible leg injury but never limps and his poor slave looks like a cage fighter whistle and the movie just didn't feel right to me.Some good action scenes but I found Centurion a much better film but as David has proved ,we all view things differently and you may enjoy The Eagle.
Happy viewing

Very true Alan. Its funny because a friend just recommended "The Eagle".

Have to agree with you on 'The Eagle' as I am sure you will with me on the remake of' I Spit on your Grave'
A remake of the controversial 1979 cult classic, I Spit on Your Grave retells the horrific tale of writer Jennifer Hills, who takes a retreat from the city to a charming cabin in the woods to start on her next book. But Jennifer's presence in the small town attracts the attention of a few morally deprived locals who set out one night to teach this city girl a lesson. They break into her cabin to scare her. However, what starts out as terrifying acts of humiliation and intimidation, quickly and uncontrollably escalates into a night of physical abuse and torturous assault. But before they can kill her, Jennifer sacrifices her broken and beaten body to a raging river that washes her away. As time passes, the men slowly stop searching for her body and try to go back to life as usual. But that isn't about to happen. Against all odds, Jennifer Hills survived her ordeal. Now, with hell bent vengeance, Jennifer's sole purpose is to turn the tables on these animals and to inflict upon them every horrifying and torturous moment they carried out on her... only much, much worse.

As you seem to be an avid reader of IMDb like me ,I have noted the original only gets 5.2/10 whilst the new remake gets a 6.3/10  .Maybe I will try this next as I can't find anything else better to watch but I think I will eat my Tea first before watching this one  .

Season of the witch .......http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Season_of_the_Witch_(2011_film) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Season_of_the_Witch_(2011_film))
This is the best monster movie I've seen in years.( but it is only March ::) ) It begins a bit like "Witchfinder General" with the similar execution of suspected witches, but with a twist. This film is a buddy movie with Nick Cage and Ron Perlman( Son's of Anarchy ) as Crusade soldiers killing in the name of the Lord. After quitting the holy wars in disgust, they learn of a plague killing the good people. The two are captured and jailed as deserters, then taken to the Cardinal (Christopher Lee,yes it was him ) who offers them a reprieve if they transport a suspected witch to trial. They learn that this supposed witch-babe( played by Claire Foy ) is actually possessed by a demon that is causing the plague. The final showdown is a real hoot. Cage and Perlman play this with a sly sense of humor. The FX are great. A very cool horror/Adventure film,so if you wanna see a fun yet dark heroic adventure, I would recomend Season of the Witch! , 8/10
I decided to put 'I spit on your Grave' on hold for a few days as I'm a bit bored with blood and guts,so I will be reviewing 'The Ghost Writer' next which stars Ewan McGregor as a ghostwriter who is hired to complete the memoirs of a former British prime minister only to uncovers secrets that put his own life in jeopardy. :o

I will be reviewing 'The Ghost Writer' next which stars Ewan McGregor
The Ghost Writer......http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ghost_Writer_(film) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ghost_Writer_(film))
Well I've been out all day and I was looking forward to pulling up my easy chair, opening up the pop-corn party15 and enjoying a good old suspense/thriller for a change instead of the action and blood and guts of the last few movies I had seen lately. I had read so many good things about this movie but to be honest I did find it a bit slow but then intriguing at the same time .I think the script was well-written and the story was well acted. Perhaps we are accustomed to too many special effects and bombs, etc. Ewan MacGregor is a fine actor and he was convincing as a writer who did not want to do this particular job. Then as he got sucked into the situation he becomes afraid. But you just don't feel drawn into it all. This is supposed to be a psychological thriller, but I did not feel that way at all during the entire film. I think what happens in this movie is that you get a little taste of the suspense. You think it's going to really grow and get exciting, but it sort of dies on the vine. Even though this Polanski movie gets rave review's I can now understand why it made a fraction of what it cost to make. smilenod 6/10

Have to agree with you on 'The Eagle' as I am sure you will with me on the remake of' I Spit on your Grave'
I decided to go for the double bill tonight and watch David's recommendation 'I Spit on your grave '. To be honest I wish I hadn't. This movie boarders on "torture porn" and anybody how actually says they enjoyed this movie is a sick individual .The rape scenes were very hard to watch for me because it was so violent and it's unimaginable that anyone can treat a woman or any living thing in this manor. Please viewers don't waste you time watching this movie as I did and watch something that is entertaining instead.2/10

I didn't say I liked it, I said you will agree with me.

-
After David's riveting review of the Black Death I thought I would give I a view. ::)
I started watching the movie last night but fell asleep after about 10 minutes in so decided to give it another go this afternoon and yes the beginning is a bit slow. The film is set in 1348 when he Black Death is ravaging medieval England. A warrior on behalf of the church (Sean Bean) seeks a guide from the monastery who can lead him and his men to a marsh as they have learned of a village that is free from the plague.Upon taking a young monk (Redmayne) it soon becomes clear that all is not as was described. The village they seek is protected by evil and there are stories of men eating men and the rising of the dead. Bean is to bring the heretic back to the church for a confession and an execution.
Parts of the movie is beautifully shot and the story reminds me of a cross between "Witch-finder General" meets "The Wicker Man".The acting is good but the storyline is a bit slow in parts.Tim McInnery ( Captain Darling ,Blackadder 4th )plays against type and John Lynch plays a convincing Christian Solider .This movie is not about good v evil or Christians V Pagans ,this movie is a sad exploration of human nature and how religions needs to force its beliefs upon others as it did in the middle ages and how it still does today .
If you like some blood and gore ( which seems to be a trend these days )Christopher Smith film direction and have a few hour to kill then this movie could be for you.As David I will give this one 7/10 ;D
-
I have just watched The Green Hornet .....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Green_Hornet_(2011_film) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Green_Hornet_(2011_film))
Sometimes you read a few review before watching a film,I had read a few bad ones about The Green Hornet so I was pleasantly surprised to find a film that was funny /action packed and with good characters.
Seth Rogen (playing Britt Reid/The Green Hornet) was funny but I do feel this part was made for Will Ferrel. Some of the one lines had me in stitches with camp undertones akin to the Batman TV series.Jay Chou (playing Kato) play the perfect part as half the brains behind the duo and Cameron Diaz ( Lenore Case ) playing the brainier other half with The Green Hornet wanting to take all the credit.
Christoph Waltz ( who plays the baddie Benjamin Chudnofsky AKA Bloodnofsky ) is fantastic as a villain and worked his role very well and very convincingly. Plus there was also a good sense of humour to his role, and it worked well. The story is fast paced and keep you entertained from start to finish.
This movie is no Batman or Superman but it is a watch-able ,funny, action packed 1 hours and 50 minutes of fun .May not be to everyones taste but I loved it 8.5/10 thumbup

Just watched London Boulevard .....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Boulevard (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Boulevard)
Another film I had put off watching after reading a few bad reviews, well what a fool I have been. This film kept be glued to the screen and was written and directed by 49-year-old Bostonian William Monahan – a screenplay Oscar-winner for Scorsese's The Departed, need I say more :)
Colin Farrell stars as Mitch, a south London hardman just out of Pentonville with an intention to go straight. Almost immediately, our hero is faced with a dilemma: should he get sucked back into the violent world of crime or go straight . Ray Winstone plays the London Underworld godfather who try to entice Mitch to work for him.Mitch gets a job as a minder to reclusive and vulnerable superstar Charlotte, played by Keira Knightley, protecting her against the paparazzi in classy Holland Park and you guest it they fall in love icon_heart.I found this an engaging gangster drama ,smartly written, and incredibly well-acted by the great British and Irish cast. The film also has a great sound track with song from the 60's like the Yardbirds which is a musical era I love.well worth a watch with a twist at the end which was unexpected 8/10

Just watched Morning Glory ........http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morning_Glory_(2010_film) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morning_Glory_(2010_film))
I thought I would try a nice feel-good movie for a change instead of the violence and blood and guts of the films I have watched lately. ::)
Morning Glory, like its director Roger Michell’s most notable film, Notting Hill, doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but takes it for a pleasant spin around town. He trades the grey skies of London for the skyscrapers of Manhattan with a fun if formulaic romantic comedy that boasts an impressive but underused cast, including Harrison Ford, Diane Keaton and Jeff Goldblum.
Of course, the real star of the show is Becky Fuller, the behind-the-scenes boss of fictional network IBS’ (what a name) fledgling morning show Daybreak, played by America’s newest sweetheart Rachel McAdams. She gives Becky spunk, sexiness and a strong resolve to succeed in a business that isn’t kind to new recruits. Her task is simple to grasp but hard to execute: revive the show and boost its ratings. Had she been working with Matt Lauer or Diane Sawyer, the job would’ve been easy but the film would’ve missed out on the possibilities for screwball workplace comedy.
The heartiest laughs are provided by supporting characters like Ty Burell’s Paul McVee, who is more entertaining to watch in his ten minutes of screen time than the majority of the core cast throughout the film’s 102 minute run. Not every character is meant for comic relief, though, like Ford’s growling curmudgeon Mike Pomeroy, a hard-nosed, award-winning journalist and relic of the past in a world more interested in “fluff†over facts. Pomeroy is strong-armed by Becky into Daybreak co-hosting duties because of a clause in his contract, and he does everything he can to make her life a living hell. His reluctance to cooperate is eventually undermined as a result of a “mutual understanding†between the two, but it feels unauthentic as he betrays his own ideals for a barely developed friendship.
Even more phony is the virtually useless love angle between Becky and Adam Bennett (Patrick Wilson), a fellow producer at IBS who advises her not to hire Pomeroy based on his own negative experience with the seasoned commentator. You could remove the character from the film completely without affecting the end result. Unfortunately, the same can be said for Keaton’s co-host, Colleen Peck, whose arc mirrors Ford’s but who arrives at the finish line first. It’s a shame, really, because both are fine actors who could have done a lot more with characters with a bit more depth.
Its message about the sad state of American media aside, depth isn’t what Morning Glory is about. This is a cheery comedy with a few chuckles and plenty of charm. Sure, it’s silly, but it’s definitely not stupid and doesn’t get overly sentimental. The script, courtesy of The Devil Wears Prada scribe Aline Brosh McKenna, is sharp enough to entertain if you don’t think too hard about it. It may not be the most memorable movie you’ll see this year, but it’ll surely bring a smile to your face.7/10

Just watched Let Me In .......http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Let_Me_In_(film) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Let_Me_In_(film))
All the reviews I read before watching this film kept going on about it not being as good as the Swedish original. As I never saw the original so I can't compare the two but this is a good movie. smilenod
The movie concerns a bullied 12 year-old - here called Owen and his friendship with new arrival on the block Abby. Owen's mother is wrapped up in religion, his father has left and is undertaking divorce proceedings; and on top of that Owen has to deal with 3 sadistic school bullies . Owen soon realises that Abby is strange and different, and is drawn to her and the two quickly become fast friends. But there is a punchline......Abby is a vampire.
This is not a Twilight-style story, but a mature examination of childhood loneliness and horror, and it packs a hell of a punch. This is a great little movie. Hammer may never be the same as they were in the old Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee days, but what a come back! 8/10
-
Your reviews are great and pleasure to read. :) bravo1

Just thought I would chip in with a brief review of The King's Speech it has received widespread accolades and much press coverage as a result of all the award nominations. Colin Firth is arguably one of the best/versatile English actors of recent times.
There is, of course, a danger that the publicity 'hypes up' films like this and you finish up being disappointed. Similarly, favourable review from critics does not always mean that the film will be popular with the masses.
I am pleased to say that this was popular with me and I thoroughly enjoyed the film. You cannot escape the predictability of the film because of it being based on historical fact.
I particularly liked the following reviewer's comment:-
The threat of world war looms outside the door, but the movie is really about one man, at war with himself, and the people close to him who helped him find peace.
The relationship between 'Bertie' (George V1) and Lionel Logue is intriguing - it highlights differences between Royalty and commoners and a confident person versus someone with low self-esteem resulting from their 'disability'. Finally, working together to overcome the impediment to deliver one of the most famous speeches of all time.
There also seemed to be great authenticity in the cameo performances of Timothy Spall (Churchill), Helen Bonham-Cater (Queen Elizabeth, Queen Mother) and Guy Pearce as the besotted King Edward V11. Even Derek Jacobi as the Archbishop of Canterbury illustrated how low Royalty/The Church will stoop to discredit individuals when it suits them.
Overall 8.5/10

Yes ,I loved The Kings Speech and Geoffrey Rush stole the show for me.Just to prove what a good actor this guy is I recommend the movie Shine .This is a 1996 film is based on the true story of Australian pianist David Helfgott, this delightful movie charts the early and traumatic early years. Telling the story in flashback we see David as he grows up and into a child prodigy while his father abuses him and his siblings with the memory of his childhood in Europe and the loss of his family in the concentration camps. David finally breaks away from his father and goes away to study overseas, he later suffers a breakdown and returns to Australia and a life in an institution. Many years later he is released and through several twists of fate (in reality even more unlikely than film portrays) he starts playing a piano in a bar before finally returning to the concert hall.A must see 9/10 smilenod
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shine_(film) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shine_(film))
Quote from the above link...
Awards
Shine won the Academy Award for Best Actor (Geoffrey Rush), and was nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Armin Mueller-Stahl), Best Director, Best Film Editing, Best Music, Original Dramatic Score, Best Picture and Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen.
It also won a BAFTA and Golden Globe Award for "Best Actor". The AFIs gave it significant recognition as well, with nine nominations total. Interestingly, several different academies recognized multiple actors in the film for a "Best Supporting Actor" award nomination. There was Mueller-Stahl's Academy Award nomination (he also won the AFI Award for Best Supporting Actor), but the BAFTAs and Screen Actors Guild Awards nominated John Gielgud and Noah Taylor (adolescent David Helfgott) for Best Supporting Actor, respectively. bravo1

Today I watched Battle for Los Angeles ....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle:_Los_Angeles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle:_Los_Angeles)
After reading all the hype and seeing it at Number 3 in the box office charts I though I would give it a viewing.Well I fell asleep the first 2 times I tried to watch it tired1 but today I managed to stay awake for the whole film though . ::)
The beginning is a bit slow as the cast of characters all have to be introduced and then the action starts. The film is a bit like the cross between War of the Worlds,2012,Independence Day and Black Hawk Down but not as good,so there is nothing new here. smilenod
Yes the special FX are OK but the shaky hand held camera ( that seems to be popular at the moment )gets annoying and distracts the you from understanding what the hell is going on!. There's more smoke in this movie than in Cheech & Chong's front-room and to be honest you would need to be high to enjoy this movie. It is a straight action junkie movie but this film has the same old cliché lines like " No way Sarge it's suicide ".The US Marines are over-powered and under gunned by the Aliens but you've guessed it the US Marines WIN.
To tell the truth I'm not a great lover of American war films( the Aliens could be exchanged for Afghanistan solider and most war film lovers wouldn't notice) and I sure there are some that will say this movie is the best thing since sliced bread but it's just not my cup of tea I'm afraid...6/10 :P

Last night I watched Rango ....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rango_(2011_film) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rango_(2011_film))
This one is number #2 in the Movie Chart at the moment and seems popular.I found this computer-animated comedy western a little slow to start with but as the movie progressed I started to realize why this film is getting rave review. The story line is about Rango ,an ordinary chameleon who accidentally winds up in the town of Dirt, a lawless outpost in the Wild West in desperate need of a new sheriff and water .
I thought the computer animation was great ,the characters are likeable and the script funny. I wouldn't say this was a children film as many of the jokes wouldn't be understood ( no good for DtD then  )as they are more adult-oriented.The voice acting is wonderful, both Johnny Depp ( Rango ) and Bill Nighy ( Rattlesnake Jake )is awesome!- give wonderful performances, while Isla Fisher, Ned Beatty, Alfred Molina, Harry Dean Stanton and Abigail Breslin are equally good.
I enjoyed this Film but make sure you get a good copy as mine was a little poor which spoiled my viewing just a tad.8/10

Not a film, but an Australian Crime series, I have watched Underbelly.
There are 3 seasons and its based on true Australian events during the 1980's. Its very strong stuff and quite realistic. It has not been shown in the UK/Europe so I think maybe most people (except Ozzys) would not have heard of it.
You may want to give it a try.

This movie is a romantic science fiction thriller, the story line is about David Norris(Matt Damon) a man running for senate, but is quickly losing votes, due to an embarrassing incident. And just when he is ready to settle on defeat, he meets Elise(Emily Blunt icon_heart ), a dancer he befriends, and encourages him to keep running. David is smitten by her, and another chance meeting with Elise again, starts to make David think she could be the one for him. But some mysterious figures capture David, they tell him, that they are controllers of his and everybodies fate, and say he can't see Elise again. But will David obey or defy them
Matt Damon and Emily Blunt are perfectly put together, as the forbidden lovers, they are so convincing, you instantly buy it. The rest of the cast are also good, so is Terrance Stamp. bravo1 A well put together suspenseful supernatural love story. It's right up there with Inception IMHO. thumbup
If you are a hopeless romantic and love SF/thrillers this movie is for you ..9/10

I have just watched Limitless.........http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limitless (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limitless)
Did you know that most people only you 20% of their brain power ( BTW I use 30% :P ). So what would happen if a drug was made were the taker could use 100% of your brain power ??? Lets see what happens when when you unlock the full potential of your mind. Let's turn our dull, under-stimulated powers of perception on the new Limitless trailer and find out ...
Limitless Trailer 2011 HD (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3U9RsXeJ3w#ws)
A down on his luck writer called Eddie Morra ( Bradley Cooper ) has just been dump by his girlfriend Lindy (Abbie Cornish) and on his way home bumps into his ex-brother-in law who introduces Eddie to MDT, a designer pharmaceutical that makes him laser focused and more confident than any man alive.Soon he rises to the top of the financial world, and he is head hunted by business mogul Carl Van Loon (De Niro)who thinks Eddie can make him billions.
But there are side effect to taking MDT,also his stash of the drug is getting low and there are hit men out to get their hands on Eddies MDT
This is an excellent action-thriller and I can understand why it's number 1 in the movie charts ,with a fantastic script, a capable director, and wonderful acting, I could only sum up this movie as brilliant. 9.5/10 thumbup

I have just watched Made in Dagenham.............http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Made_in_Dagenham (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Made_in_Dagenham)
Maybe its my socialist background from my younger days but I was enthralled by this movie from start to finish.Made in Dagenham is a film about a woman's right to work and get paid for it,it's a wonderful recreation of the 1960s strike of the 187 Ford Ladies that led to the Equal Pay Act of 1970.It stars Sally Hawkins as Rita O'grady, confident and forthright as the ordinary working mum who finds herself elevated to the position of striker-spokeswoman, battling not merely against the bosses but the smug chaps' club in general: employers and trade unionists getting ready to stitch up a duplicitous compromise behind her back. Miranda Richardson plays Barbara Castle, the cabinet minister not-so-secretly sympathetic to the women strikers and exasperated at the ambiguous evasions of her own boss, Harold Wilson, played in cameo by John Sessions. Richard Schiff is excellent in the small role of the American Ford executive who must come over to sort out this costly pinko mess.
A must see for anybody that was around in the 60's and for those that believe in equal rights and fairness for all 9/10 thumbup

Last night I watched Sucker Punch ......http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sucker_Punch_(film) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sucker_Punch_(film))
A young girl Emily Browning (Baby Doll) is locked away in a mental asylum by her abusive stepfather where she will undergo a lobotomy in five days time. Faced with unimaginable odds, she retreats to a fantastical world in her imagination where she and four other female inmates at the asylum ( Abbie Cornish (Sweet Pea) Jena Malone (Rocket )Venessa Hudgens ( Blondie) and Oscar Isaac (Blue ) ), plot to escape the facility. The lines between reality and fantasy blur as Baby Doll and her four companions, as well as a mysterious guide, fight to retrieve the five items they need that will allow them to break free from their captors before it's too late.
Lots of eye candy with the ladies( icon_heart ) and the special FX are OK,I found the story a bit far fetched but it is a fantasy/action /thriller .It wasn't to my liking but some will love it I'm sure 7/10 :-\

Just watched The Warrior's Way ........http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1032751/ (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1032751/)
Another Fantasy/Action movie come Western/Marshal arts ( Grasshopper sawadi ) .The movie is about Yang ,( Dong-gun Jang ) after a lifetime of training in martial arts and swordsmanship, Yang has eliminated all but one of his clan's enemies-an infant whose smile instantly melts his heart. Unwilling to kill her and unable protect her from his own deadly tribe, Yang takes the baby girl and flees, planning to seek refuge with an old friend living in Lode, a frontier town in the American West. He arrives to find that his friend has died and the once-thriving Gold Rush town is in shambles, inhabited only by a few dozen eccentrics including Lynne ( Kate Bosworth icon_heart )a beautiful, spirited knife thrower-in-training, and Ron ( Geoffrey Rush ), a worn-out drunk. In order to make a safe home for the child far from the reach of his murderous clansman, Yang decides to stay on as the town's new laundryman, sealing his sword for good. But has he ::)
This movie was written and Directed by Sngmoo Lee,( his debut film ) and filmed and produced in New Zealand. There are a few other familiar faces in the cast like Eight-ball ( Tony Cox -Marcus the black midget from Bad Santa )and Colonel ( Danny Huston -King Richard The Lionheart in Robin Hood )but for me this wasn't one of Geoffrey Rush's best performances.Anyone who like the Kill Bill films will like this one too, loads of sword fighting and a story line that keeps you amused and entertained.7.5/10 thumbup

This afternoon I watched Its Kind of a funny Story .....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/It's_Kind_of_a_Funny_Story_(film) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/It's_Kind_of_a_Funny_Story_(film))
This is not really my kind of a film but when I saw it had Zach Galifianakis in it I thought I would give it a go .Zach was in Date Due ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1231583/ (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1231583/) ) and had me in stitches .a must see film for anybody that hasn't seen it. smilenod
Well back to todays movie......Craig is a teenager having a tough time and contemplates suicide so he checks himself into the psychiatric ward of a hospital, thinking they'll do an observation, help him, and send him home in time for school the next day. Once in, however, he must stay for a week; the juvenile ward is being renovated, so he's in with adults as well as a few youths. Bobby ( Zach Galifianakis ), a man with a young daughter, shows him around; Craig notices Noelle ( Emma Roberts, she's the romantic twist to the film ) , about his age. He tries to keep his friends from finding out where he is. Little things: he draws, goes to therapy, sings, helps Bobby rehearse an interview. Is this the stuff of insight ??? or just a boy growing up. ::)
The bottom line is that this movie is OK. It's not the best, but it is a movie worth seeing that has a very good story and great acting to complement it 7.5/10

Just watched The Tourist........http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Tourist_(2010_film) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Tourist_(2010_film))
This film is about Elise (Angelina Jolie) who randomly sits next to an American tourist, Frank (Johnny Depp), on a Venice-bound train. The police have been following Elise for over two years waiting for her to contact her lover, who embezzled over $2 Billion from a mobster. The British Economic Police want to collect its share (taxes) of over $775 Million to be paid on this money. Frank, a math teacher, and Elise must evade the police, and also the mobster who's money was stolen.
This movie is worth watching. I wasn't blown away but it'll do. If anything, looking at Angelina Jolie throughout the movie was worth the watching alone icon_heart. Her look on screen in this movie has to probably be the most beautiful I've ever seen an actress look. She and Depp had chemistry, but it was friendly chemistry, nothing sultry and erotic which is OK. It was nice to see her do that type of film for a change.7/10 + 1 for Angelina Jolie= 8/10
-
Yes ,I enjoyed The Tourist too , bravo1 and like you Boloa I would like to give Angelina Jolie one love2

Last night I watched Jonah Hex.......http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonah_Hex_(film) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonah_Hex_(film))
Jonah Hex is a DC Comic book Western antihero, the movie is slightly different to the comic in how he became a scared faced bounty hunter but this doesn't detract from the film.
In this version Jonah Hex (Josh Brolin ) is caught by the U.S. military and they make the scarred bounty hunter with warrants on his own head an offer he cannot refuse,to hunt down and kill Quentin Turnbull (John Malkovich ) a terrorist that in the past had killed Jonah's wife and son .Turnball is now going to unleash a new weapon the the people of the US and its now up to Jonah to stop him  . Lilah (Megan Fox icon_heart) plays a prostitutes that has eyes for our Mr Hex and yes you've guest it gets captured by Turnball to be used as decoy to bring Hex to him. ::)
This film got a hammering by the critic but I found it entertaining but lacking in punch, being only 80 minutes long it seemed to me that somewhere along the line the movie had been cut ???.The final big encounter was to short, the film had a long fuse ( that was good in parts ) but with just a puff of smoke at the end instead of a big bang. With actors like Brolin and Malkovich I expected more but to be honest I still found the movie OK,not great but OK but still worth a watch 7/10 thumbup

Recently I watched The way back.........The Way back (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Way_Back)
This is a good film that somehow manages not to be a great film. It brings to mind other stirring epics like BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI and LAWRENCE OF ARABIA, and you wonder if David Lean would have made it a truly great movie. What the escapees endure during their 4,000-mile journey is vividly brought to life (the Gobi desert scenes are especially harrowing), but because Jim Sturgess's character is the only one with a back-story, there's a lack of involvement with who these people are, and this fatally diminishes your interest in their fate.
Colin Farrell does a great job with a Russian accent but his character seems particularly pointless. Excellent acting from Ed Harris and Saoirse Ronan evokes sympathy, but they remain just 'cyphers' - the token Yank, the token girl. Peter Weir's direction is, as always, flawless; there's a great sense of the vastness of the swamps and deserts and mountains they have to cross.10/10 for the visuals, but only 7/10 for the writing so I'll give it a 8.5/10

Last night I watched Black Swan .....Black Swan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Swan_(film))
A ballet dancer wins the lead in "Swan Lake" and is perfect for the role of the delicate White Swan - Princess Odette - but slowly loses her mind as she becomes more and more like Odile, the Black Swan.
"Black Swan" is one of the most effective movies dealing with issues of and about mental health I have seen. It is so effective because it does not directly deal with that subject matter, instead wrapping itself in a surreal and hypnotic environment, where its main character flounders between reality and paranoia, with the line between both blurry at best and none-existent at worst.
When watching this movie, one can cut the tension with a knife. It is as palpable as anything in the movie. It is also one of the reasons why I think the film is not a candidate for repeat viewings. Not for me at least, not anytime soon. However, the movie is truly an excellent piece of cinema. Darren Aronofsky is once again brilliant, a fact which seems to have escaped the Academy this time around, just as it did with "The Wrestler".
Natalie Portman is supreme in the movie, and deserved every bit of the critical acclaim and success she has garnered, including the Oscar itself, she was that good. I am glad the got recognized for her work, unlike Mickey Rourke, who last year got completely railroaded from his Oscar, an award he definitely deserved, as his was an astounding performance, one that Aronofsky is very capable of getting out of his actors. I am glad on this occasion it worked for Natalie Portman.
I'm not a ballet fan but I am a fan of a good Drama/Mystery/Thriller ...so 8/10

This afternoon I watched Cop Out.......Cop Out (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cop_Out_(2010_film))
After a clumsy operation trying to capture a drug dealer, the N.Y.P.D Detectives Jimmy Monroe (Bruce Willis ) and Paul Hodges ( Tracy Morgan ) are suspended for one month by their Captain Romans. Jimmy decides to sell his rare baseball card to pay for his daughter's expensive wedding while his jealous partner believes that his wife is cheating on him with their next-door neighbour. When Jimmy sells his card to a memorabilia store, the place is burgled by two small-time thieves and the detective loses his card. They track down the thieves. :o
This movie isn't the best buddy cop movie ever made, the best action- comedy ever made, or the best Kevin Smith-directed movie ever made. What it is, though, is a solid movie that is well worth a watch IMO. It won't change your life, but it won't let you down either, especial if you like this type of humour .The humour and dialogue, while a little flat in places, was for the most part funny and lively. The plot had more twists and turns than you'd expect from a buddy cop action-comedy, and was quite surprisingly good. Kevin Smith, in his first time as a director of someone else's material, did a good job of directing not only the dialogue that is usually his speciality, but also the action parts that usually aren't present in his films. I would give it a 8/10

Last night I watched Never Back Down (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Never_Back_Down)
I'm always on the hunt for the latest films to come out and whilst reading some of my favourite review and movie sites I noticed a new MMA film( mixed martial arts )coming out called Never Back Down 2 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Never_Back_Down_2) . As I had never seen the first one I thought I would give it a viewing before watching the sequel ( when it comes out ).
The plot of this movie is very similar with some of the 80's American martial arts movies like Karate Kid or No Retreat, No Surrender with some "90210" Hollywood thrown in too. This movie has all those normal things like martial arts trainer who always repeats to his students that they shouldn't fight (then why the hell do they study martial arts ???), parents always moralizing that fighting is not an answer and of course the bad guy, who is always stubborn and rude with everybody, but becomes very friendly after getting his butt kicked.
If you enjoy the above jondra,MMA or you are just a sad 50+guy that likes to ride around on a brightly painted chopper trying to relive his youth then this could be the movie for you. This story is about a "tough guy" teenager named Jake who looks like a cross between any guy in the O.C (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0362359/) and Tom Cruise who switches schools after his little brother gets a tennis scholarship. Now at his new school Jake is asked to a party by an overly good looking generic girl who seems to think it is nerdy of him to know what the English teacher is talking about and to wear a flannel shirt so she invites Jake to a party. At this party he is challenged to a fight with a teenage rip off of Fight Clubs Tyler Durden and he is destroyed because apparently overly good looking teenagers are also UFC champions. Jake is then is trained by a Black version of Mr.Miagi and seeks guidance by his best friend Max.
The film was OK but I wouldn't rush out trying to find a copy,it has all the some old cliche you've seen before but I was still entertain enough to give it a 6/10

I have just watched Blooded (http://bloodedmovie.com/ral.html)
Blooded is a mockumentary style British movie, that imitates a real documentary film. Its a story of 5 young people who are on a stag shooting weekend in the highlands of Scotland and are drugged, stripped to their underwear and then hunted by a group calling themselves the "Real Animal League".Their ordeal is then filmed by the RAL group as a warning to others, if you hunt... you're fair game. Combining dramatic reconstruction and compelling interviews with the survivors, Blooded finally tells the full story behind one of the most extreme internet virals (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viral_marketing) of modern times.
The film's topic has provoked reactions from parties on both side of the hunting debate in the UK.The Evening Standard wrote that the film "caused outrage after graphic scenes showing activists attacking five deer-stalkers were posted on the internet, in a viral publicity campaign."The Independent noted the film's controversial stance, and that as the film's asserted protagonists were a group of extreme animal activists, it generated "much chatter on the interweb" after clips appeared on Youtube. They wrote however, "it all has the whiff of a clever publicity stunt"
Well the clever publicity stunt worked on me and I quite like the movie, watch it and see what you think, its a 7/10 for me

'The Mechanic'
Very good movie. I love this actor! I am not going to give a rate but it is a very good action movie that will keep you there until the end. thumbup
What you have to remember Admin is a film reviewer can never be wrong as they are personal views and I think you should have given the film a rating out of 10 to help others before watching. When you have someone like Barry Norman you will find people normally respect his views because over a period of time he is mostly right love5
I watched The Mechanica while back........ :)
I am one of the original Jason Statham fans. I loved the Transporter, Crank and his collaborations with Guy Ritchie like Revolver and even tolerated some of his less glorious efforts such as Death Race.
For me what makes his movies so enjoyable is the tongue in cheek humour and the likeable side of the tough guy. We all know he's not a great actor but the lovable rogue is his trademark and that's why we keep going back for more. smilenod
"The Mechanic" is about a ruthless hit man and it gives Statham no opportunity to smile or engage in banter, nor make us laugh. It's a non- stop action film with a few goofs and a script with holes big enough to drive a bus through. Normally I would forgive and forget, because I like him, but he didn't make me laugh nor make me wish I could be like him this time.
There were no characters to like in this film, but there was plenty of action which makes it instantly forgettable for me. I know you want to read the movie was great but I wouldn't be honest if I pretended it was. Worth watching but don't expect another Transporter ...7/10 :)

Last night I watch Inhale
Every day, rising Santa Fe District Attorney Paul Chaney( Dermot Mulroney) and his wife, Diane (Diane Kruger), wait for word that there's a donor for their daughter, Chloe. Diagnosed with a rare degenerative condition, Chloe is on a long list to receive a double lung transplant. As her health worsens, Paul becomes desperate to save his young daughter, so desperate that he'll risk everything to organize an operation. When Paul learns of a Dr. Novarro who performs illegal transplants in Juarez, Mexico, he heads south in a frantic search for the only man who may be able to save Chloe. But after arriving, he realizes Dr. Novarro's medical ring runs deeper into a criminal underworld than he realized and people are not who they seem to be. With his career, family and his daughter's life on the line, Paul finds himself at a critical crossroads, left to decide what is really "right" in this world. The final act hits like a gut-punch. Worst fears are confirmed, and the protagonist faces a moral dilemma no father should have to confront
This is the type of film that 10 years ago would have owned the box office but today unless you stick a product name like Russel Crowe or Tom Cruise in it, it's hard to say if the viewing public will go for it.I liked it ,right from the start, the viewer is plunged into a contorted realm of existence, faced with horrific choices that have to be made under the worst of imaginable circumstances.......how far would you go to save your child !!!!!
As I have already said I liked this movie so its an 8/10 for me

This afternoon I watched Run, Fatboy, Run (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Run_Fatboy_Run)
I was looking at a few local forums last night and spotted a poster that said he had just seen a comedy Run, Fatboy, Run,as I hadn't watch a comedy for a while i thought I would give it a go.Its a 2007 film and my supplier had it in stock
Anyway the film was about Dennis( Simon Pegg ) and he leaves his pregnant bride Libby (Thandie Newton icon_heart) at the altar and 6 years later is regretting it -- especially when he sees her new rich, handsome,American, perfect suitor Whit ( Hank Azaria) trying to mussel in.Frustration grows, and Dennis vows, that for once in his life, he will finish something. This something ends up being a Nike River-run in London. With his friends Gordon and Mr. Ghoshdashtidar by his side, Dennis begins training for the marathon he must finish.
There is a few cameo rolls from British actors and comedians to keep you amused .This film was written by Simon Pegg ("Shaun of the Dead" and "Hot Fuzz"-- which I liked) and Michael Ian Black (an American TV sketch-comedy writer) and I expected it to be a lot wackier than it was.Its a likeable comedy/feel good movie but not one I would say is a must see 7/10

This afternoon I watched Blood Out (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_Out)
I Was going to give it a miss when I first saw this film but after seeing the cast ( Val Kilmer,Luke Goss,Vinnie Jones,50 Cent and Tamer Hassan who I thought acted quite well when playing Pat Tate in Bonded by Blood )I thought I would give it a view.Well the old adage ' Stars make a film' doesn't ring true here. ::)
The story is about small town Sheriff Michael Spencer(Luke Goss) who puts down his badge and goes looking for the gang leaders that has killed his brother and avenge his death. That's about it really, the stars like VK,VJ and 50 Cents only have very small cameo rolls and to put them on the box cover is a bit misleading .The story lines are weak and distractions are made by all the sexy eye candy that is spread all over the film via slave girls in S&M outfits and Victoria Secret get up biggreen. This is a movie for the young macho type that find this sort of jondra entertaining .I found it odd to have English gangsters running around in an American run down housing project talking as if they should be in souf London ( haven't spelt south wrong, that's how they speak ).Pretty boy Luke Goss plays his role OK and finale of the film is a punch-up with WWE star Bobby Lashley which Luke wins of course .
All in all I'll give it 5.5/10 :)

Last night I watched Sacrifice (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/sacrifice_2011/)
Cuba Gooding Jr does a lot of direct-to-DVD action/crime movies lately, which is surprising given that it's only been four years since his last major Hollywood role in Ridley Scott’s “American Gangster” which I thought was was film of the year for 2007.I couldn't tell you if this is because he's just not getting A-list offers any-more, or if he's just decided he needs the cash and is accepting any and all gigs that come his way. His latest, “Sacrifice” co-stars Christian Slater is not to the standard of 'American Gangster' but it is a movie worth watching IMO.
In Sacrifice Cuba plays a tough undercover cop John Hebron whose wife and daughter have been murdered and then inadvertently he gets involved in a dangerous heroin ring.Mike(Devon Bostick) who wants to defect from the drug gang so he can take care of his little sister, steals a statue of the Virgin Mary from the drug gang ( that is made from Heroin )and gives it to Father Porter (Christian Slater) as his statue has been smashed by drug addicts braking into the poor box.As the story unfolds the characters merge with casualties on the way, which finishes in a final showdown.
I enjoyed this movie ,so it's an 8/10 for me thumbup

Last night I watched Rabbit Hole (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/rabbit_hole/)
The film is about Becca (Nicole Kidman) and Howie (Aaron Eckhart) and how they deal with the death of their 4 year old son after a road accident .Howie is holding the child's memory close, and trying to do what's right. He wants to reconnect with his wife emotionally and physically, but he's walking on eggshells and knows he must be patient. He thinks group therapy could help – at least, it seems like a better option than isolation and silence.Becca feels differently. She's wrapped up in anger at the world, so brittle that if she let anyone in she’s sure she’ll snap. The memories are too painful, but everything is a reminder. And she doesn't want to talk it out either – it's all she has left. The couple head off on divergent paths after Becca can't swallow her contempt at the therapy group. Howie decides to keep going, but winds up sharing grass and sympathy with one of the women he meets there (Sandra Oh). His wife takes to stalking a schoolboy, for reasons that only emerge gradually.
They say there are five stages of grief - but not everyone reacts to calamity in the same way, or at the same pace. This film gives you a window into Howie and Bacca's lives, both being right and both being wrong at the same time.Sometimes it's easier to split up and start afresh with a new partner than to deal with all the hurt inside.Which way is this one going to go ???
One of the best films I've seen so far this year for me 9/10 thumbup

This evening I watched No Strings Attached (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_Strings_Attached_(film))
As I'm always looking for new films to watch ,I spotted this movie in the charts and noticed it stared Natalie Portman ( icon_heart. ) Natalie stared in "Black Swan" which was a Drama/Mystery/Thriller and now she takes on the romantic comedy genre for the first time since her 2004 hit "Garden State". Her co-star Ashton Kutcher on the other hand is no stranger to the romantic comedy genre with most of his recent films falling into this genre ("Killers", "Valentine's Day", and "What Happens In Vegas"). Together they create comedy through the awkwardly realistic chemistry between their characters Emma and Adam. Their quirky relationship begins when they are both sexually frustrated teenagers at summer camp. This leads them to becoming acquaintances throughout the early years of their relationship until they are thrown into each other's lives for the last time. Emma is a successful doctor who works eighty hours a week and is not looking for a relationship, while Adam is an aspired writer looking for a break working at a "gleeish" television show. Their latest encounter leads the two into a sexual dilemma as they make a pact to enter into a relationship with "No Strings Attaches" in other words no commitment, just sex. However, eventually the strings have to be attached. ::)
This movie has an awful start, but it improved a lot as the film progresses and by the end ( which is a bit predictable) you have this warm feeling of love and happiness inside.A feel-good movie to make you feels good.It has a great cast and Kevin Kline is good as Adams dad.
I liked this movie so it's a 7.5/10 for me sawadi

I know what you mean about Ashton Kutcher but in No Strings Attached he's seems well suited to the roll and has matured IMHO,and with Natalie Portman they romantically gel ,to make it an enjoyable and believable film .

Last night I watched Kill the Irishman (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/review/kill-irishman-film-review-164992)
This is the true story of Danny Greene (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danny_Greene) a tough guy of Irish descent working for mobsters in Cleveland during the 1970's.
With real news footage and a decent cast this movie is a must for those that likes a Action/Crime films. The cast includes Christopher Walken, Val Kilmer,Robert Davi, Vinnie Jones, Paul Sorvino, Mike Starr, Steve Schirripa and of course Ray Stevenson who plays Danny Greene.Val Kilmer plays Joe Manditski,a cop and boyhood acquaintance of Danny and lightly narrates though the movie to give you the full picture. From humble beginnings Danny works he's way up the underworld ladder but will the Mafia bosses let him take over ???
This movie is a bit like Goodfellas, with subtle humour and no over use of violence to tell the story.Whether the story is historically accurate or not I'm not sure but it is an entertaining film and well worth a viewing IMO,I'll rate this movie an 8.5/10 thumbup

Today I watched Men of Honor (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Men_of_Honor)(2000)
I had an email from a friend and he recommended a few films for me to watch ,one was Man on Honor. After a a quick Google I noticed it stared Cuba Gooding Jr who was in Sacrifice, the movie I reviewed a week or so ago. Here was a chance to see some of Cuba's earlier work that I somehow had missed when it first came out.
Man of Honor is based on a true story, De Niro stars as Billy Sunday, a tough Naval veteran entrusted with training would-be divers at a training camp in New Jersey. Carl Brashear (Cuba Gooding Jr.) is the first black trainee and despite the racism and prejudice of his fellow trainees and Sunday himself, Brashear is determined to pass.
The strength of the film undoubtedly lies with the quality of the acting. Both Oscar winners, De Niro and Gooding Jr. excel in their respective roles, and the scenes with them together light up the screen. De Niro is excellent as the hard-hitting, hard drinking Billy Sunday, making Nookiebear look as frightening as the Andrex puppy.
The overall plot is a bit too clichéd, and it's difficult to see where the 'true story' ends and the Hollywood sentiment begins. ( Here's the true story ..click here (http://www.chasingthefrog.com/reelfaces/menofhonor.php) ) Despite this, Men of Honour is well filmed with some tremendous underwater sequences. You'll guess the end (you probably have already), but the standard of acting is enough to make this worth a viewing anyway.
So for those that haven't seen it ,get a copy ,its well worth the hunt 8.5/10 thumbup

I'm very sorry to hear that. :(
I was over 25 years ago but I still remember the anguish me and my ex-wife went through at the time, time is a healer .The only thing I was trying to point out is people view films in different ways.Movie reviews are personal views and are neither right or wrong .David is right in giving Rabbit Hole a 6/10 for him but for me it was a 9/10.I do the reviews as I see them ,its a shame more members don't do reviews to give us a more rounded picture :)

Tonight I watched Insidious (http://www.horror-movies.ca/2011/04/insidious-movie-review/)
What else can I say :o. At 51 there's not much that scares me in the way of movies since I've seen about every scary movie that's been made, but "Insidious" raised the bar and did it with a lot of heart. I constantly got chills over my entire body literally with how its presented. The plot is a bit like Poltergeist but with a great surprise ending.

I dislike horror/scary movies. I see no point in spending ~90 minutes of 'tok jai' or run the film further to avoid these moments. No point really.
My point of view is that these movies main potential viewers are 15-25 years old max.
I'm trying to look at 'Knockout' at the moment but too many things to do I'm still stuck at 6:27minutes..... ;)
I will give you report and RATING later.

Tonight I watched The Lincoln Lawyer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lincoln_Lawyer_(film))
Matthew McConaughey has arrived, this is the sort of movie I like. It's about a fast-talking criminal lawyer who has just regained his licence after some unspecified petty sin, unable to afford an office, he does business on the move, from the back seat of his chauffeured Lincoln car. Mick Haller (Matthew McConaughey ) catches a break when he's retained by super-rich-kid Louis Roulet (Ryan Phillippe), who's accused of rape and assault. John Romano's smart, savvy script motors along as we see how Hallet knows all the angles and how to work the system. It's a world of cynical lawyers cutting deals, overwork cops and cons brooding over sinister secrets.A must for those that like courtroom drama's ,fast paced with humour thrown in to..8.5/10 thumbup

Tonight I have watched Thor (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thor_(film))
The film is about Thor(Chris Hemsworth), son of Odin(Anthony Hopkins)and brother of Loki(Tom Hiddleston), is all set to become King of Asgard but his rash act of stupidity towards the Frost Giants of Jotunheim threatens the peace of the realm. As punishment, Odin takes Thor's hammer, Mjolnir, the source of his power, and banishes Thor to Earth. Odin also drops the hammer to Earth where it can only be wielded by a worthy individual. On Earth, Thor meets Jane Foster(Natalie Portman, who seem to be in all the new movies at the moment icon_heart)and her friends, but finds that without the power of his hammer, he is now mortal. With Asgard threatened by the Frost Giants, and his brother Loki making mischief, can Thor learn from his mistakes and wield his hammer again so that he return home

Today I watched the Source Code (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Source_Code)
The film is about Colter Stevens (Jake Gyllenhaal) an American Army helicopter pilot whose last memory is flying in Afghanistan, wakes up on a commuter train. But he discovers he has assumed the identity of another man. 8 minutes later the train explodes and Stevens finds himself in some kind of pod. He then talks to someone named Goodwin who tells him he has to go back and find who the bomber is. He is sent back and is going through the whole thing again and tries to find who the bomber is but fails and the bomb goes off and he is back in the pod. He is sent back again and still can't find out anything. When he comes back he asks what is going on, Goodwin and Rutledge, the scientist in charge tells him he is part of a project that can put someone in another person's consciousness during the last 8 minutes of their life. Stevens says why doesn't he just stop the bomb, he is then told that he is not going back in time but placed in the moment so he can find out who the bomber is and if there are any other targets
I really enjoyed this film but it did have a touch of Deja Ve (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0453467/) , Minority Report (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0181689/) with a tad of Groundhogday (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0107048/) thrown in to boot, that's why I'm only going to give it 8/10 instead of a 8.5/10, this movie is definitely worth watching. Duncan Jones pulls an excellent script together- top producer and Jake Gyllenhaal and Michelle Monaghan (who plays Christina Warren ,the girl on the train )are both good actors and play their parts well in the film.

Last night I watched I am number Four (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Am_Number_Four)
This movie from Dreamworks Pictures is about John,an extraordinary teen, masking his true identity and passing as a typical high school student to elude a deadly enemy seeking to destroy him. Three like him have already been killed ... he is Number Four.
The movie is well presented, its flow is very smooth although at some points I feel that its rhythm accelerates. The characters are very well done, everybody is OK for their rolls, and they carry off the supernatural race well. The fight scenes are excellent, and number 6, the woman, really surprises me with some good fight scenes. The plot is interesting and the entire movie is well done but more suited to teenagers and 20-30 year olds IHMO. The movie is open for a sequel as there are a few unanswered questions left at the end . I enjoyed this film so its a 8/10 ( again  )

Agree with den Buut this is a fun movie smilenod but I thought the role was made for Will Ferrel, here a review I posted on March 19 th about The Green Hornet.
Some of the one lines had me in stitches with camp undertones akin to the Batman TV series.Jay Chou (playing Kato) played the perfect part as half the brains behind the duo and Cameron Diaz ( Lenore Case ) playing the brainier other half with The Green Hornet wanting to take all the credit.
This movie is no Batman or Superman but it is a watch-able ,funny, action packed 1 hours and 50 minutes of fun .May not be to everyone's taste but I loved it 8.5/10 thumbup
( nice to see den Buut doing a review.....more please bravo1 )

The Punisher (2004):
Frank Castle is dead. He died with his family. In certain extreme situations, the law is inadequate. In order to shame its inadequacy, it is necessary to act outside the law. To pursue natural justice. This is not vengeance. Revenge is not a valid motive, it's an emotional response. No, not vengeance. Punishment.

Tonight I watched The Wolfman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wolfman_(2010_film))
The original has been altered big time, but this version can hold its own. Benico del Toro plays Lawrence Talbot, a well known Shakespearean actor performing Hamlet in London. Talbot is informed by his brother's fiancé(Emily Blunt)of his disappearance. Upon arriving at his family estate Lawrence is told by his estranged father(Anthony Hopkins)his brother's body was found viciously mauled. Drinkers in the local pub want to place blame on gypsies camped on the outskirts of town. After Talbot talks to a gypsy queen he gets the impression recent killings were actually the attacks of a werewolf. As anticipated Lawrence survives an attack himself...only to deal with the curse of being bitten. Supporting cast includes: Hugo Weaving, Geraldine Chaplin, Elizabeth Croft and Art Malik. Photography and F/X are commendable and the atmosphere is enhanced by the music of the outstanding Danny Elfman.
How can you not like a movie with Anthony Hopkins in,so it's a 7/10 for me

Takers
TAKERS, directed by John Luessenhop, revolves around a notorious group of criminals (Idris Elba, Paul Walker, T.I., Chris Brown, Hayden Christensen and Michael Ealy) who continue to baffle police by pulling off perfectly executed bank robberies. They are in and out like clockwork, leaving no evidence behind and laying low in between heists. But when they attempt to pull off one last job with more money at stake than ever before, the crew may find their plans interrupted by a hardened detective (Matt Dillon) who is hell-bent on solving the case.
Classic crime action movie. Even though the plot is usual its a good movie.

This film is about the true story of Bethany Hamilton (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bethany_Hamilton) ,a teenage surfer girl who summons the courage to go back into the ocean after losing an arm in a shark attack.Although a great story the film overemphasises the religious element for me,plus the family was just to nice to be true and sickly sweet like the Brady Bunch.... which I found off putting and unreal. sick1

Last night I watched Dale and Tucker Vs Evil (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tucker_%26_Dale_vs_Evil)
This movie is so bad its good ,a few times I was crying with laughter
The basic plot is that Tucker (Alan Tudyk) and Dale (Tyler Labine) are two not-completely-bright but sweet Virginia hill-billies looking forward to a vacation in their "fixer upper" cabin in the woods, and there kicking back and doing nothing more stimulating than fishing and drinking beer. To their dismay, a group of spoiled, college students decide to camp next door to their cabin. The students get it into their heads that Tucker & Dale are deranged, chainsaw-wielding serial killers, and react accordingly.

Tonight I watched The Company Men (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Company_Men)
The plot centres around a group of men and their families who live the high life working in Corporate America. One by one three of the men, 12 and 20 year veterans in the Company get laid off and this movie centre's around their lives and the lives of those around them. Ben Affleck plays family man who when he loses his job does not believe that the company 'betrayed' him. The downsizing of families, incomes, and the morale of the characters is well documented. Cinematography and locations are great as well as the roles of Kevin Costner and others. The recession in America between 2007 and 2010 is covered in the bylines and the excess and greed of Corporate America is captured succinctly. The realisation that a company can throw one out when you don't expect it to makes a job for life rather an odd expectation. Kevin Costner plays the role of Ben Affleck's brother in law who runs a minor construction company.
I enjoyed Ben Afflect's part he played in The Town (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0840361/)( if you haven't seen it you must ) but I found this movie a bit slow.Good acting ,great directing and cinematography but it could have been better 7/10 :)

Today I watched Born into Brothels (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0388789/)
After I mentioned this movie in another thread I thought I would give it a viewing .
Zana Briski (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Born_into_Brothels), a documentary photographer, went to Calcutta to photograph prostitutes. While there, she befriended their children and offered to teach the children photography to reciprocate being allowed to photograph their mothers. The children were given cameras so they could learn photography and possibly improve their lives. Much of their work was used in the film, and the film-makers recorded the classes as well as daily life in the red light district. The children's work was exhibited, and one boy was even sent to a photography conference in Amsterdam. Briski also recorded her efforts to place the children in boarding schools.
This is a moving documentary and I can see why it won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature in 2004.Out of the 9 children that Zana tried to help, one ( Avijit Halder (http://www.whatsonxiamen.com/news10192.html)) has gone on to study at New York University. The sad thing is that after giving these children the chance of a lifetime most( 7 out of 9 ) of the parents asked for their children to come back and help and work in the slums/brothels that they came from. :(
This film can be watched in 6 parts on You Tube or can be found from the normal movie source's...... 8/10 for a compelling story

Last night I watched Cross (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1046245/)
Cross is a film of the comic book, starring Brian Austin Green,Vinnie Jones, Tom Sizemore, Jake Busey and Lori Heuring.
When beautiful, young women start disappearing from the streets of LA, it’s time for good-guy Callan (a.k.a. Cross ,Brian Austin Green) and his crew of weapons experts to kick into high gear and uncover the mystery. Granted incredible power by his ancient Celtic cross, Callan must fight to stop an immortal Viking Gunnar ( Vinnie Jones )from destroying mankind.
This comic book stuff with a comic book script, its all tongue in cheek and I can only assume it was supposed to look crass 6/10 ::)

This afternoon I watched The Delemma (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dilemma)
It's about confirmed bachelor Ronny(Vince Vaughn) and happily married Nick(Kevin James) have been through thick and thin. Now partners in an auto design firm, the two pals are vying to land a dream project that would launch their company. With Ronny's girlfriend, Beth, and Nick's wife, Geneva, by their sides, they're unbeatable. But Ronny's world is turned upside down when he inadvertently sees Geneva out with another man and makes it his mission to get answers. As the amateur investigation dissolves his world into mayhem, he learns that Nick has a few secrets of his own. Now, with the clock ticking and pressure mounting on the biggest presentation of their careers, Ronny must decide what will happen if he reveals the truth to his best friend.
The whole moral of the story is what would you do if you caught your best friend's wife cheating. Do you have the tenacity to tell your best friend or just sweep it under the carpet ???
To be honest Kevin James was great in The King of Queens and Vince Vaughn was at his best in the Wedding Crashers and he hasn't done much of any note since ,including this one. Some may like The Dilemma but it just didn't connect with me.6/10 :)

I can't keep up with the rhythm you watch movies!!! :)
Keep up the good reviews and rating. It helps. love5
Maybe you can let us know what are your 'manupete rating levels' are saying:
Example:
Admin's Movies Rating Dictionary: party15
1 = Don't watch the movie at any cost.
2 = A big NO.
3 = Forget about it.
4 = Don't you have better things to do?!
5 = Watch when trying to get a sleep.
6 = Nice at very rare moments in life.
7 = Seasonal Winter/Summer movie.
8 = Good movie.
9 = Great movie.
10 = Don't miss this movie. A must movie to watch for any human being!! thumbup
-
You'll notice that the ratings seem to be skewed towards 5 and up a bit. That's probably because I try to avoid stinkers ( but there is always one that slips though the net ), but also because I look at anything below 5 to be a "failing grade"... and some movies don't even deserve a 1 (I Spit on your Grave comes to mind sick1 )
So .....
5 = Give it a miss
6 = OK if you don't have anything better to do
7 = OK worth a viewing
8 = Good movie.
9 = Great movie.
10 = Outstanding movie that must be seen.

'The Dilemma'
Rating: 8.5 congrats
I really like this actor Kevin James (Doug), I used to watch all 'King Of Queens' when I was young so for me he is the main star and all the movies he play in them are always nice to watch.
Great comedy for all the family. party8
Vince Vaughn and Kevin James headline an all-star comedy from director Ron Howard and producer Brian Grazer about a man who finds out that what you don't say to a friend is just as important as what you do. Jennifer Connelly, Winona Ryder, Channing Tatum and Queen Latifah join them in The Dilemma, a story of how far you can bend a brotherly bond before it snaps. Since college, confirmed bachelor Ronny (Vaughn) and happily married Nick (James) have been through thick and thin. Now partners in an auto design firm, the two pals are vying to land a dream project that would launch their company. With Ronny's girlfriend, Beth (Connelly), and Nick's wife, Geneva (Ryder), by their sides, they're unbeatable. But Ronny's world is turned upside down when he inadvertently sees Geneva out with another man and makes it his mission to get answers. As the amateur investigation dissolves his world into comic mayhem, he learns that Nick has a few secrets of his own. Now, with the clock ticking and pressure mounting on the biggest presentation of their careers, Ronny must decide how and when he will reveal the truth to his best friend.

HANGOVER PARTY 2
Bad fiction, films fine - it's bad reality that really upsets
By Pravit Rojanaphruk
The Nation
Residents and long-time expats who have watched the latest Hollywood comedy "Hangover Part II", which was mostly shot in Bangkok, may wonder how accurate the depiction of their city was.
In the film starring Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis, three buddies wake up after an orgy of drugs, violence and sex and cannot remember what happened the night before.
The movie reduces Bangkok to a city known for its sex industry, drugs, crime and gangsters, with an elephant, street vendors and strangely robed monks included as colourful props.
While some of the representations of Bangkok are accurate, you won't find the mundane, traffic-congested normalcy and boredom as experienced by millions of Bangkok white- and blue-collar workers. They are simply not exotic enough and will likely dilute the image of the Big Mango as a legendary city unlike others.
Truths that are inconvenient are left out and the fact that the film is produced by the powerful Hollywood film industry means it stands a good chance of being distributed globally.
The production grossed US$86.5 million (or Bt2.6 billion) on its first weekend on North American screens, according to Associated Press on Monday. It's also being shown in 40 other countries, including Thailand, and has been doing well.
Back to the movie. Since the film is about three farang having a hell of a wild night in Bangkok, mundane aspects of the city that do not mesh with the main narrative are omitted. In this way, they can strengthen the core message of Bangkok in a selective and simplistic way, and make it easier and more entertaining for viewers. (BTW, this writer encourages Thais and expats to go see the movie and think about how Bangkok is portrayed and to ask themselves why).
In a way, it's also like how the Thai authorities and most of the Thai mass media attempt to control the grand narrative about Thai society and politics, and about what is "Thai" and what is not.
So for example, "all Thais" are depicted by most mass media as having "unreserved reverence and love" for the King and the monarchy. When that narrative gets affected by Thais who express themselves otherwise with regards to the royal institution, they get quietly thrown into jail through the lese majeste or computer crime law. And in the case of 'Da Torpedo', her lese majeste trial was even conducted in secret, while the media tried to play down the news as much as possible, if not ignore it altogether.
These people simply got in the way of a feel-good story line, and the growing number of arrests has become an inconvenient reality. And so they will be further ignored and edited out of the "normal" conversation about Thai people's relations with the monarchy, politics and society.
Never mind if by doing so, things become inaccurate or even distorted, because what the authorities and most mass media want is to ensure that the grand narrative is convincing, special and unspoiled from unwanted distractions to the plot.
I have little problem about the selectivity and simplistic description of Bangkok in the movie "Hangover Part II" because it's fiction. But when most mass media keep on making a simplistic and fictitious portrayal of the current state of Thai society and politics, especially regarding facts and the issue of people's relationship to the monarchy, they are doing a disservice to society and only hindering Thailand from ever maturing.
A feel-good and simplistic story line without nuance and irony is best left to bad fiction that is too good to be true.

Pay it Forward (2000).
Rating: 9/10
A very good movie. Must see.
A young boy stumbles upon a simple way to change the world in this drama. Trevor (Haley Joel Osment) is a bright 11-year-old boy who comes from a troubled home; his mother Arlene (Helen Hunt) is an al... read more coholic trying to hold down two jobs to support her son, while Trevor's father Jon Bon Jovi) left his family behind some time ago. At school, Trevor's class is introduced to their new social studies teacher, Mr. Simonet (Kevin Spacey), a guarded man with severe facial scars. Simonet gives his class an unusual assignment -- think up a practical way to make the world a better place, and put it into action. Trevor comes up with the notion of Pay It Forward" -- do a needed favor for three different people without being asked, and then ask them to do the same for three others. Trevor starts by letting Jerry (James Caviezal), a junkie living on the streets, stay in his home. Next, he tries to fix Arlene up with Mr. Simonet, since both seem to be lonely and the clean and sober teacher might help Arlene stay away from alcohol. Finally, he tries to rescue one of his schoolmates, who is constantly tormented by bullies. Meanwhile, journalist Chris Chandler (Jay Mohr) finds himself stuck on the road without a car late one night when a man stops and give him the keys to a new car, asking him only to pay the favor forward to someone else; astonished, Chris wants to find out where this philosophy came from. Based on the novel by Catherine Ryan Hide, Pay It Forward also stars Angie Dickinson and Liev Schreiber. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

After all the hype ,today I watched The hangover 2 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hangover:_Part_II)
The Wolfpack has relocated to Bangkok. Stu (Ed Helms) has planned a quiet wedding in Thailand with bride Lauren (Sucker Punch's Jamie Chung icon_heart), but naturally it turns ugly. Part II is essentially a carbon copy of the smash hit original. Writer-director Todd Phillips has lazily used a cut and paste technique, but it's still very amusing nonetheless. The written gags are fairly witty although it's the delivery from the cast, especially Zach Galifianakis, which really provides the laughs. The short, fat comedian is hilarious as the socially (and mentally?) retarded Alan; his comic timing and straight-faced humour is faultless. The supporting characters are hit-and-miss, Ken Jeong's Mr Chow again painfully unfunny. This inferior sequel won't draw in any new audience members; however fans of its predecessor will still have a hoot. 7.5/10 thumbup

Just watched "unknown" with Liam Neelson.

Today I watched Unknown (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unknown_(2011_film))
An effective thriller with a good twist in the ending. Not since The Sixth Sense has a movie given me such a surprise at its ending. Liam Nieson keeps your attention fixed on the action throughout the movie, although some of his lines did not match the scenes or his character. If someone is trying to kill you, maybe some emotion would be shown. The car accident at the beginning is very realistic and makes Liams amnesia credible. The car chase scenes in the movie will also keep the action buffs happy, although the black car driven by the assassin is a bit too corny to believe . Bruno Ganz as an aging former Stasi agent gives a stand-out performance and Diane Kruger supports Nieson without the usual Hollywood theme of girl following for hero. Maybe its because Nieson is old enough to be her father. This film is no masterpiece but if your looking for a couple of hours entertainment with an interesting ending this will fit the bill....8/10 ;D

Tonight I watched Priest (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Priest_(2011_film))
"Priest", a post-apocalyptic sci fi thriller, is set in an alternate world -- one ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampires. The story revolves around a legendary Warrior Priest (Paul Bettany,The Da Vinci Code) from the last Vampire War who now lives in obscurity among the other downtrodden human inhabitants in walled-in dystopian cities ruled by the Church. When his niece (Lily Collins) is abducted by a murderous pack of vampires, Priest breaks his sacred vows to venture out on an obsessive quest to find her before they turn her into one of them. He is joined on his crusade by his nieces boyfriend (Cam Gigandet,Never Back Down and The Roommate), a trigger-fingered young wasteland sheriff, and a former Warrior Priestess (Maggie Q , Nikita (TV series) icon_heart ) who possesses otherworldly fighting skills.
Lots of action so a 7.5/10 for me

This morning whilst doing the ironing for my next holiday ( isn't life one big holiday though ) I watch Little Fockers (http://www.littlefockers.net/index.php)
This sequel was totally not necessary! A great comedy defuses itself when it spawns sequels. With my mindset on that statement I watched Meet The Fockers surprisingly mostly due to the cast being chock full of superstars. Needless to say it wasn't bad. Then I saw the trailer for Little Fockers and there was no way three times a charm but once again was tempted to watch it . This time I was 100% right in my sequel assumption...totally unnecessary but there was a few funny moments though . The storyline has Pam and Gaylord struggling to raise their very busy children although Greg seems to have entered father in law Jacks circle of trust after Pam's sister and the prodigal son in law bob have since parted ways and Jack leaves one of his aforementioned quotes to Greg "I knew you were the good one all along" yeah sure Jack!! Anyhow after Jack suffers a mild health scare he informs Greg he will be the new family patriarch. This in turn leads Jack into a new bout with over doing his CIA training to keep an eye on the son in law.
An OK film to do the ironing too and worth watching just to see Jessica Alba in her underwear,so 6/10 for the movie and I would like to give Jessica Alba one icon_heart...so thats a 7/10 then

On this wet Thursday afternoon I have just watched Midnight in Paris (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Midnight_in_Paris)
To be honest I have never been a big fan of Woody Allen or his films, but Midnight in Paris was so good I may just become a convert. Midnight is Paris is not just a movie, it is a dream. As a movie it exceeded my expectations from the reviews I had read.
Owen Wilson plays Gil a writer in Paris with his fiancée to met up with the new in-laws. He has fallen in love with the city and thinks they should move there after they get married, but Inez ( Rachel McAdams ) does not share his romantic notions of the city or the idea that the 1920s was the golden age. When Inez goes off dancing with her friends, Gil takes a walk at midnight and discovers what could be the ultimate source of inspiration for writing. Gil's daily walks at midnight take back in time where he meets his hero's from the past,Fitzgerald,Hemingway,Picasso,T.S. Eliot and a host of others.
This is the best Comedy/Fantasy/Romance film I have seen this year 9/10 love5

Samsara is a 2001 independent Indian/Italian/French/German film which tells the story of a Buddhist monk's quest to find Enlightenment. The film stars Shawn Ku as the monk Tashi, and Christy Chung as Pema. It was directed by Pan Nalin and written by Pan and Tim Baker.
The film's plot is reminiscent of the story of Vishvamitra and Menaka.
Samsara was awarded "Audience Award for The Most Popular Film" by the 51st Melbourne International Film Festival, among other awards from other festivals, and made it to top ten films in Italy and France.[1]
A spiritual love-story set in the majestic landscape of Ladakh, Himalayas. Samsara is a quest; one man's struggle to find spiritual Enlightenment by renouncing the world. And one woman's struggle to keep her enlightened love and life in the world. But their destiny turns, twists and comes to a surprise ending..
Tashi (Shawn Ku) has been raised as a Buddhist monk since age five. When he gets erotic phantasms as an adolescent, his spiritual master decides it's time to taste profane life, sending him on a journey in the real Himalayan world. Once he is told his hottest dream was real, Tashi decides to leave the monastery and marries Pema (Christy Chung), the daughter of a rich farmer, who was actually engaged with local stonemason Jamayang (Kelsang Tashi). The ex-lama soon becomes a rich land-owner himself, and makes a killing from his harvest by bringing it to the city instead of selling at half price to the local merchant Dawa (Lhakpa Tsering), but half of his next harvest perishes in a fire, yet he comes through and raises a bright son, Karma (Tenzin Tashi). After committing infidelity, contemplated for years, and as he later hears from the promiscuous Indian labourer girl named Sujata (Neelesha BaVora), Tashi reconsiders his life.

Today I watched Trespass (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trespass_(2011_film))
Trespass (http://tiff.net/filmsandschedules/tiff/2011/trespass) gets right down to the business of violating boundaries. It opens with Kyle (Nicolas Cage) steering his luxury convertible through the Louisiana woods, nearly home yet still working, making desperate calls to real-estate clients unresponsive to his hard sells. Kyle arrives at his isolated, museum-like mansion to find his wife Sarah (Nicole Kidman) arguing with their adolescent daughter Avery (Liana Liberato). Avery locks herself in her room; Kyle keeps taking business calls; Sarah just wants a nice family dinner. So domestic tensions are already peaking when unexpected visitors arrive, wearing masks, making demands and packing heat.
It seems at first like a standard home invasion — one that might end quickly and cleanly enough, leaving the family bruised, shaken-up and robbed, but otherwise intact. However, negotiations between Kyle and the intruders become complicated. He won’t open the safe. He analyzes his assailants’ plan and pokes holes in it. He even attempts to strike up a business deal with them. Trespass keeps us wondering what this nervous, barking, bespectacled man could be up to.
Meanwhile, disquieting glances of recognition are exchanged between Sarah and one of the invaders. Intermittent flashbacks tease us with the possibility of some past dalliance. But what really happened? Does Kyle know? And what do we make of this masked man’s conflicts with his cohorts, one of whom is his brother and who claims to be doing all this for the sake of their ailing mother? The film piles on the questions — and matches every one with predicable twists.
A mediocre thriller ,which is a shame considering the cast.About 20 minutes from the end I was checking how long was left to run or maybe I just wasn't in the mood for watching movies ....6/10 :)

Last night I watched 'Girl Walks into a Bar' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Girl_Walks_Into_a_Bar)
GIRL WALKS INTO A BAR (http://www.flixster.com/movie/girl-walks-into-a-bar) connects a group of apparent strangers over one night across ten bars throughout Los Angeles. Zachary Quinto stars as a dentist who teams up with a feisty would-be assassin (Carla Gugino icon_heart ) to put the final touches on the plan to kill his wife. Once he makes a play for the assassin's payment, he unknowingly sets off a chain of events that fuels a crosstown journey through the many lounges, bars, strip clubs and the occasional nudist ping pong clubs scattered across Los Angeles. By turns funny and heartbreaking, this sharp-witted comedy features ten interconnected vignettes that build to a revealing finish
I enjoyed it ,fun with lots of eye candy 7/10

Tonight I watched Reel Steel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real_Steel)
A (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/real_steel/) gritty, white-knuckle, action ride set in the near-future where the sport of boxing has gone high-tech, Real Steel stars Hugh Jackman as Charlie Kenton, a washed-up fighter who lost his chance at a title when 2000-pound, 8-foot-tall steel robots took over the ring. Now nothing but a small-time promoter, Charlie earns just enough money piecing together low-end bots from scrap metal to get from one underground boxing venue to the next. When Charlie hits rock bottom, he reluctantly teams up with his estranged son Max (Dakota Goyo) to build and train a championship contender. As the stakes in the brutal, no-holds-barred arena are raised, Charlie and Max, against all odds, get one last shot at a comeback.
I loved this film ,its like a cross between transformers and Rocky ...9/10 boxingguy

Another I have watched lately is Lucky (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1473397/)
After Ben wins $36 million in the lottery, Lucy marries him, strictly for the cash. Just as she's beginning to have genuine feelings for him, however, Lucy discovers that he's a serial killer whose victims all resemble her. Still, though, there's no way she's walking away from those lottery checks, even if it means losing her mind and re-burying all the bodies.
Nothing is bleaker than failed black comedy, which this is ,but anybody that likes Dexter may like this one 6.5/10 :)

Warrior
The performances and well-choreographed fights are the main event of Warrior, a mixed martial arts drama that delivers counter-punches to the numerous cliches that continuously crop up. Raw emotion and rare truths are explored in this flawed film helmed by writer-director Gavin O’Connor. Equal parts testosterone-filled entertainment and a story of redemption and forgiveness, Warrior has a curious based-on-a-true-story feel. The film isn’t shy about giving you a story, clocking in at 139 minutes, and it’s that devotion to plot and background that will help it cut open a broader audience than the standard fight drama. There are hurdles to overcome as an audience, but the reward is a gritty bit of truth in an unlikely and fun package. Full review here (http://collider.com/warrior-review/113957/)

Animal Kingdon (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1313092/)
A youngster is given an inside look at a criminal empire that also happens to be his family in this independent drama. Teenage Joshua Cody (James Frecheville) is suddenly on his own after his mother's drug habit catches up with her, and he's taken in by his grandmother Smurf (Jacki Weaver), usually regarded as the black sheep of the family. Joshua quickly learns Smurf's reputation is well deserved; she and her four sons are members of a mid-level crime syndicate that operates out of her home in Melbourne. Baz (Joel Edgerton) looks after the money and is urging Smurf to move into something legit, Pope (Ben Mendelsohn) is a criminal jack-of-all-trades who never lets go of a grudge, Darren (Luke Ford) is an enforcer with an unfortunate weak streak, and Craig (Sullivan Stapleton) is a drug dealer who has become addicted to his own product. When Baz is murdered, the family's voice of reason is gone, and the unstable Pope takes the lead in the family's hierarchy; as suspicions fall on Joshua, the quiet newcomer is moved out of the house to keep him safe. Nathan Leckie (Guy Pearce) is a police detective who has found out who Joshua is and what he knows, and he tries to convince the teenager to help him put the Cody family behind bars, though Joshua isn't certain about his loyalties to these outlaws who are also his blood. The first feature film from director David Michod, Animal Kingdom was an official selection at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, where it received the World Cinema Jury Prize for Best Dramatic Feature.RT (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/animal_kingdom/)
