I'm contemplating an extended stay in a village 45 minutes from downtown Buriram and was wondering about DSL availability. I know in metro BKK that any house with a phone line, for the most part, can have DSL access at the flick of a switch... I'm wondering if the boondocks has similar ability, or not?
Thx in advance guys.

That would depend on several things. Your house, does it have a phone line?
Second, you need to be less than 5 km from the nearest phone central built out for DSL. Well, that is what they told me up here in Putthaisong. Unfortunately I am 13 km from that town. SO the only alternative for me was satelite connection via Ipstar, or GPRS.
Both sort of works. But Mobile coverage is horrendous in this village. Basically if someone calls me, I can choose between running outside and stand in the middle of the road, or climb up in my sofa, he he
So Ipstar it is. It keeps me connected, for 1400 baht a month at, well, I would say modem speed. Sometimes it burst up though, other times I want to turn the sat dish into a bird bath...
