I think they are off the idea of mattress....... they have finished to renovate the ground floor and 2nd floor.
They are working now on 3rd floor and will finish in about a year (hotel's owner statement). sawadi

Admin.....Is it noisy from renovation work going on? Friendly faces at reception? Last time --I stayed a few weeks in Siam Orchid. Was a quiet room away from the street and always a smile from staff. Better than Diamond Grande ( service at reception -- screwy) and Vontong. I will check out the new bungalows behind Big C. In general is occupancy low? Can make deals for one month or so? Thanks

I have stayed in Thai hotel in the past before the renovation and it wasn't noisy for me at the time.
Anyway, the big plus of Thai hotel is the location as you can understand, deal for a month? I'm not sure, you'll have to talk with them directly but I don't think so.
Their rates are low and location is very good, Walking distance from the nightlife scene.
