What food can you buy in these minimarts and what would you like the most which they don't stock or it's hard to bring in!
Heading up there soon so i will bring some items that i can't buy easily! bananadance
-
sardines, kinds of cold salads which are not available in the supermarkets here and have to make alone at home, actually when I think about it, not so many things I miss from back home, only some better prices for the same products! (imported.... confused6).

GF village is near Prakhon Chai and if i remember rightly last time i drove on the highway 24 there wasn't much of interest in the way of supermarkets!
She lives south of Prakhon Chai and im guessing the food thing will be Thai house with small shop attached to the side!
Guess there will be some sort of local market aswell but not farang food as such without going to say Tesco Lotus which i rekon they only have in the city!
Unless i hire a car i'm screwed on the motorbike laden with shopping!
Please advise. party6

Go see Ray and his wife at Coffee Corner, PrakonChai. They will surely help you or at least cook you some great grub!
Friday afternoon/evening is the meeting place for the local farangs.
Coming from Buriram, its on the right-hand corner as you turn towards the Bus Garage.

Crowsnest, I am sorry but I totally missed this thread until today.
If you haven't already been you are very welcome in Coffee Corner anytime.
By now you will probably be aware of our menu (and we do sell some meat products etc), Steve the Buriram Pie man and what Nookie can provide.
There are increasing numbers of Falang in our area and this can only be a good thing for those who want Western food supplies.

************** POPCORN ****************
Have popcorn in Big C, as you pass the cosmetic products area, where all the snacks.
BTW, there is also Beigal/Pretzel. party15
There are few kinds of popcorn for the microwave and corn to make it by yourself at home, from my experience, the ready ones for the microwave are the best, they aren't likely to burn unlikely when making it with the pot, also less oily.
Salty and tasty!! just like in the cinema!!! jumping8

Hey. thanks a lot. I'll be on my way to Big C very soon. Since I have been in Isaan there have been weekends when I would have killed for a big bowl of POPCorn.
