I have done this about eight years ago and still use the water from that well. Once all is done and installed it only costs the electricity to pump the water. But make sure that you test the water before it is used for domestic purposes. Things like pH and mineral content and coli forms (bacteria) are important to know. Water test kits are available at HomeMart and a couple of places in town too. Of course you can always run the water through a purifier if you wanted to drink it.  character3

I'm looking for advice on anything to do with underground water if anyone can be so kind

I've been told that the cost of this is approx 16000 baht which includes a pump worth around 10000 baht
At the moment no one is available to carry out this work in our village (close to ban kruat), would anyone have any suggestions of who can do it?

Also, are there any known issues with making and having underground water?

Thanks in advance

Jamie

I was adviced to use 2 pumps, one to get the water out of the ground to a 1000L tank and one, less heavy, to get the water into the house, cost alltogether including well around 20000 Bath, but why use 2 pumps was not really clear, anyone knows?

That's what I thought first, but the man who made the well told me to buy the pumps and the tank myself were I wanted so it would only be more work for him for his 3000 Baht, maybe he has stocks .

Bought a "pressure demand" pump from a hardware shop in Prakhon Chai around 4 years ago.  Cost was around  8500 baht.  (still running OK)

The shopkeeper called the "well diggers", and within 2 hours they were busy drilling away at my place.  Took them around 6 hours and down to 55m to finally get there.  Cost was around 5000 baht, including pump installation and wiring.  Later had a cage and concrete platform added for the pump, around 800 baht.

Update... hole drilled and pump and elektrics fitted, but plumbing did not include. How much does the pvc pipe cost per meter?

Sorry guys, I've not had much time to check in for a little while.
Thanks to everyone that left feedback, I have a much better understanding now of what's required and who can do it for me.

Cheers

sawadi kap  Buriram people

My current pump has now failed and the need for a new pump and underground water is pretty urgent...

Can anybody advise me if the water brought up from underground into our storage tank should be treated in anyway?
What is this water suitable for?

Also, would one pump suffice for the drawing up and feed to the house?
My wife seems to think that we need two

Interesting question, I think I see in home mart kits to check water quality and this way you can know if you need a water filter to keep it clean (most probably YES). :)
I think 1 water pump is enough.

Their are two ways of getting  water to your house when using a bore (well)
one is by gravity feed ,  you need to ensure your storage tanks are higher then your taps ext.. this method will involve just 1 pump
which is call the submersible pump  this is the pump in the bore   which energises by a float valve in you storage tank so when your tank is getting low the pump will auto start and fill the tank up to the desired level and cut off ...

The other way is by using two pumps  first is the Submersible which pumps nice clean water to your storage tanks operated by a on/off float valve ,  Second pump is a pressure pump that pumps water from the tank to you house operated by a pressure switch.

Hi

Don't want to put a dampener on your efforts but if you intend to drink the water apparently it should not be near a septic/waste tank for fear of contamination. nono

The recommended distance is I believe is 1 kilometer which really makes it a no no for most people, unless you are really in the boonies!

Hi

Well at the moment we already have a tank with float valve which is topped up by the mains supply.
However, that mains supply isn't providing water permanently and randomly may not provide anything for a whole week!!
This is the main reason why I considered have the tank fed by a well instead.
Our pump is also on it's way out so it would be an ideal time to do it now.

Its an interesting point about the location of the septic tank I hadn't considered that.unfortunately I don't have 1km of garden  so I'll just have to find somewhere else in the grounds thats as far away as possible.
This water or water from the mains we wouldn't use for drinking however the better half does use it for cooking and washing....

Hi all,

Is there maybe someone here who knows an address for drilling a water well near Nong Hong?
And for a pump with all.
The well will be used for the watering of the fields. So not a well of 10 meters for in your garden.
Or has some one already have experiance with a well in Burriram? Prices and so.
So far i haven't seen a farmer using this.
I'm still living in the Netherlands. It's for my gf and her parents fields.

regards
